Hey, maybe you don't realize this but, for musicians, making and selling music is a JOB. You may be correct in saying that the corporate types are corrupting the creativity of the industry but people are buying the crap too, it's not being forced on them. To say that the performers are in the wrong because they want to make millions of dollars is crazy. Who's to say that Britney Spears isn't making the kind of music that she really wants to? She makes it and a million teenagers line up to buy it, so what?
I don't really remember the exact point I was trying to make but this post just angered me. (There goes my karma.)
Or how about AI that can figure out if the misson controllers know the difference between metric units and the US system of measurements so it doesn't get flown into a planet.
One of the posts here already pointed out that the rovers are programmed to stop if they think they will flip. I think I remember this actually happening with the Sojourner rover and the drivers had to back it away before programming the new instructions.
I would imagine one of the reasons the rovers sit so high is ground clearance. It would be pretty inefficient to drive around every rock that was an inch high instead of going right over it.
Also, the wheels all sort of move up and down independently keeping the center relatively level. Tank-like treads would tip the entire side of the rover as they rolled over something.
Apple laptops are quiet/silent and so are the iMacs. I don't have first hand experice with the newer LCD monitor models but my wife's older CRT model is basically silent(no fans whatsoever). Also, I checked out the newer G5 tower at my buddy's job and I didn't really notice any excessive noise. They have a lot of fans but they all run really slowly most of the time.
Dude, You are off topic and complaining about a machine that is like 8 years old (and running OS 9). I will be the first to admit that the Mac has some speed issues when compared to similar Wintel boxes, but come on. Sit in front of a Mac that was produced since the turn of the century before you trash the platform.
This makes a lot of sense, and was the kind of information I was looking for. Of course the idea that the one button mouse is solitary reason for Apple's marginal market share can't be ignored either.;)
I noticed, along with this game, that Unreal Tournament 2003 also was released for Win and Linux simultaneously with the Mac version (of UT 2003 anyway) coming out much later. I know that Mac games are always later to market but does anyone have a theory (or even an actual reason) that Linux versions come out along with the Win version? Is development for the Mac platform really that much different now with OS X? Just curious.
Here's how it happened...

I don't see what the confusion is over how she did it...this woman obviously has kids. My guess is in the 2-4 year old range.
I still have an old "Beige" G3 tower at home. 266MHz overclocked to 300MHz, 256 MB RAM, came with a 4 GB (Yes "four") HD and I dropped a 60GB in it recently. I also added USB and Firewire PCI cards and upgraded the video card ( free from a friend ). It does everything I want it too, but is a little slow with the latest games. My point is they are very upgradable machines and they definitely have staying power.
I also work in a graphic design shop where we still have many Blue and White G3's running Photoshop and Quark all day long. They hold their own against the G4's and are not seen as a burden to work on.
Overall, I think Mac's tend to hold their value for quite awhile. If your not looking for the highest Quake frame rates on your block you should have a machine that will last for years.
"Really stupid syndication"
Location of iTunes library file not changeable (and in users' homedir).
Mine is on a server. Try LOOKING at the preferences.
Hey man, cut him some slack. It's under the "Advanced" tab. Maybe he was afraid to look under there. ;)

Using the term "folk belief" more than once in a paragraph can become very annoying. This belief is confirmed.

... and Apple will be on the verge of going under.
I give it about a week before someone comes out with a little tiny condom that you can slide over your earbud plug. :)

So, if almost every site that gets posted here gets slashdotted...why doesn't slashdot ever get slashdotted?
There is a metal rod inserted throgh the top edge of the flag to keep it erect.
Is that a server in your pocket or are you just happy to see me? :)
