    Omygod is that ever stupid! I can't believe that at all... I should come out with a 'Basketball' set of clothing and then sue the NBA for their use of the word.

    Oh... and you might want to avoid the use of the word 'gay' to mean 'stupid'. Some people might judge your whole post on that, and disregard anything else you have to say.

    the implications? You mean like companies might actually have to be responsible for false advertising?

    I've never actually seen a beer commercial like that. Maybe it's because they're not allowed to drink beer in beer commercials.

    About the SUV: If that's what the commercial shows and the vehicle can't perform, then I have no problems trying to call them on it.

    Oh, and in the shampoo comercials she's _obviously_ faking it. :)

    That's wierd. You'd think it was "the orient" that people had problems with since that's all that really changed.

    whatever...

    As for this whole race thing... One of the UF crew could be half native american for all we know. AJ looks a little darker than the others on the banners on the main page. *shrug*

    That site you posted is harsh. Bad on the eyes, and kind of annoying too. A good reason why geek shouldn't go mainstream. :)

    I guess the comic was alright though.

    I think that is just with non-geeks. BBSes are the perfect example of how geeks are sociable, of how we are into communicating and sharing.

    Were stereotypically non-sociable in places like school, where we are a small minority, and others will often go to great lengths to remind us that we are non-sociable and a minority (ie. uncool).

    Of course... I could be wrong. I have been relatively 'cool' by my general age group for the last couple years (closet geek maybe?).

    Oh. and User Friendly rocks!

    Or alcohol even... You'd get good arguments for both sides from kids.

    I'm 19 and there are a number of movies that I would feel uncomfortable watching with my mother. Do you and your mom rent porn together often? Or even "R" rated stuff such as "Basic Instinct"?

    Imagine the irony of getting killed with your own code. Or even your country getting bombed with code that you helped develop.

    Hey. I don't really see how this message is a troll. The idea has some merit.

    We Canadians could use someplace warm to go in the winter. Also, we wouldn't have to worry about customs, when we go, or changing our money into that pesky American currency.

    More tourism for California, more land for Canada (although it probably wouldn't put us past Russia just yet). Everybody wins!

    I, for one, wouldn't mind.

    Actually, I think that 'This hour', like all CBC shows runs for twenty-four minutes with six minutes. I think their name is about American shows, which last twenty-two minutes out of every half hour.

    but that's just what I heard... Maybe I'll time it some time.

    I have a feeling that the masses might hear the word 'matrix' and either:
    a. get confused (because it took some explaining before they understood the matrix in 'The Matrix', now they have to learn a new definition).
    or
    b. Think that this is a movie that is just trying to capitalize on the success of 'The Matrix'. (and you have to wonder about that one).

    It would be _really_ confusing if Keanu was cast in Neuromancer. :)

    I liked Neuromancer (although I should re-read it). And William Gibson is Canadian!

    I've built one. Unfortunately I didn't have enough to make it cool looking, or even solid... It did work alright though.

    But talk about expandable! :)
    It'd be neat to operate a company that does specialty cases. ie: hardwood, lego, nerf, fishbowl (fish that like hot water I guess), marble (heavy!), etc... It'd be really fun. :)

    And why does everyone say legos? grrr.. That has to be the most annoying word. I've always thought (and continue to think) that you can't pluralize lego. "What's that in the box?" "Oh, it's lego."... y'know? Maybe I should ask Lego what they think about ppl pluralizing lego.

    ok... I'm done venting.

    ok... so how does the american rating system work? Rated R: you have to be 18, NC17: you have to be _???_ (I always just assumed the 17 was for age 17, now I'm confused)...

    I have no problem with the theatre restricting entry under 18 without a parent... Wasn't this how restricted movies are supposed to work? If we want to change the rating system then that's another matter(that maybe should be looked into). If parents feel it's okay for their kids to see it, they can take them. And don't say that because the kids can get the movie off the net, or see it at a friend's that their parents shouldn't try to stop them from seeing it. It's good for kids to see where their parents stand on issues such as this. It helps them to find out where they themselves stand.

    and about the violence/swearing/nudity. I think that possibly what the rating ppl/censors are thinking is that the violence in the movie is fake, whereas the nudity and swearing are real. Now, the morals on what is _okay_ for a kid(or even adult) to see is another matter that I'm not too sure on and should probably be decided on an individual/parental basis...

    After submitting this I realized I might not know everything when it comes to computer vocabulary and I might just be using the 'popularized' version of the word 'warez'.

    Anyone know of any other meaning for this besides illegal software? Was this word once noble, like 'hacker'?

    kick @$$! Now if only they started something like that in Canada.

    hrm... Wonder what the merits of the program are vs. learning on your own. University isn't cheap. And I'm not too sure that'd I'd spend all that money to "play games".

    Oh wait, I am in university and that's all I do anyway. At least if I was in that program I'd get better grades. :)

    It'll be interesting to see how this works out.

    The page I'm looking at on sony's site says that the goggles are $2599.00.

    I can't connect to the site listed on your message either.

    The specs for these glasses say 'virtual 30" screen' and not 52", maybe these are two/three different sets of glasstrons... doesn't seem likely though.

    Just had to defend the CBC a little...

    Maybe in the year or so where I haven't tuned in very much it's gotten a lot worse, but I doubt it.

    1. It's free.
    2. They show Canadian news (better canadian news than american)
    3. Canadian content (This hour has 22 minutes, small time movies, hockey games, etc.)
    4. Most of the 8 minutes advertisement time is used up informing us what else is shown on CBC.


    ok... so it shows the Simpsons and various other american shows, but it is very, very different than an american network.

    I do think that this could prove beneficial, but I also am of the opinion that evolution has done a pretty damn good job.
