Firefox isn't (subjectively) that much slower than Chrome any longer

This may be true if you load web pages one at a time, but as soon as you open multiple background tabs, you see that Firefox is slower. Chrome is optimised for multicore CPUs, Firefox isn't. Open multiple background tabs in Firefox and watch as the Firefox UI turns to molasses as everything renders on a single core.

Tabbed browsing is the norm. Opening background tabs is commonplace. The browser UI shouldn't crap itself under that use case.

As the years tick by, it's increasingly embarrassing for Mozilla that Firefox is not multicore optimised. Firefox is starting to look quaint and out of step with modern browsers.

ATOMIK won't be a replacement for conventional touch type keyboards. The ATOMIK interface is optimised for entering characters using a single stylus. When touch typing, more than one finger is used to press the keys on the keyboard, making ATOMIK unsuitable.

It's not optimised for touch typing.

Thats still 6 GameCubes per X-Box

The $1200 price tag is for a bundle including the Xbox and games, not just the Xbox alone.

6 GameCubes per "Xbox & games bundle" may be more accurate.

Who would actually pay 1200 bucks for a game console system?

Remember the $1200 bundle is available for consumers wanting to reserve an Xbox console.

There is a subset of gamers that turn into rabid animals on launch day and must have the console immediately, not matter what the price or bundle. This is the grounp of consumers that Microsoft will be cashing in on with these crap bundles and prices.

Supply and demand. If there are poor gullable people that buy into the marketing hype and will pay inflated prices and accept bad bundles just to get their console on launch day, then they are at the mercy of the marketers and deserve whatever they get.

The others who are more sceptical to marketing and have a little patience need not worry about this.

if they wanted to get a game out by it's advertised release date that they could just hire on some more programmers and get the job done.

Throwing extra programmers at a projects to meet release dates seems like a good idea on the surface, but can reduce productivity.

When new programmers are brought into a project, they need to be trained and brought up to speed on the project before they can do useful work. This means that some of the current development staff have to stop working on the project and spend time training the new guys. The net productivity of the project will decrease in the short term, while the new staff are being trained.

In the long term more programmers equates to more productivity (with good management) but throwing extra programmers at a project to make quick productivity gains in the short term actually has the opposite effect.

I don't think Blizzard have enough time before the release date to bring new programmers in on the project and gain the benefits.
