Bollocks. The reason is simple, there are enough MacOS users to make the product a paying proposition - particularly as MacOS users who want MS Office actually have to BUY the bastard as they don't get a freebie with their computer. And have you seen the price of MS Office for the Mac? That's why I use Appleworks, miles cheaper and better designed too, and it has limited .doc and .xls support into the bargain.

we were taught in Colour Theory that the human eye has inferior spatial resolution in blue, but superior ability to discern brightness levels. We conducted several density grading experiments which seemed to prove this theory empirically. I think the confusion here is that the eye is most sensitive to green at the lower limits of perception - presumably because this ability might aid sight in poor light out in the bush. But that's just a guess.

And, quite frankly, it is YOU who is the smug one, you claim to be answering this guys question but are just spouting a load of your prejudices while presenting them as facts. Shit, 100lpmm is damn near impossible with a real camera (and that works out at around 9 million pixels). If you knew anything about assessing image quality, you'd know that spatial resolution is a small part of the whole story and MTF (particularly system MTF) is a much better measure and tends to favour digital systems in most applications. In education and publishing at least, Apple's server solutions are well represented and have always been exceptionally easy to administer and fairly secure by virtue of not having any CLI or true multi-user basis. OSX changes that equation somewhat, but may better be able to attract admins who are used to working with Solaris, IRIX, Linux etc.

Apple are trying to build market share to maybe 10-15%, figuring that nothing succeeds like success, and that's what the Apple Stores are all about. As to MS having shares in OSX (??) well, they do have a stake in Apple Computer (not a very big one though), but I'd be stunned if Apple Computer didn't hold SOME equity in MS stock - it's only professional portfolio management after all. Apple are one of the VERY few companies that compete head-on with MS in several markets, and they deserve respect for being able to maintain a strong business doing that.
