Apple software tax notwithstanding, if/when you come to resell, the iBook will have retained FAR more of it's original selling price than virtually ANY x86 notebook.
I must confess - diehard Applemonger that I am - that I MUCH prefer the Toshiba nipple to Apple's bloody trackpads. But I prefer a stylus and a touch screen to either...
why would you think it was a hoax? Anyone who's used a device that relies on the throughput KNOWS that there's an AWFUL lot of potential there - one obvious example is Quantel's range of video editing machines - conventional host CPU based systems cannot compete for speed, but certainly win for flexibility. If the FPGAs become "configurable" by way of a new programming technique, I can't see any reason why it shouldn't provide a good solution for HPC applications.
you're wrong about wine - the yeast used to ferment the grape must is naturally present on the skin of the grape, and most fine wines DO NOT ALLOW the use of pesticides in their production.
I expect that the Romans had access to some very good and fairly familiar wines....and German should always be capitalised, citzen.
you really should TRY and get out of the house a little. And - here's a tip - that Starfleet uniform with you lunch all down the front is NOT exactly a babe magnet.
except that the 12" Powerbook DOESN'T HAVE the magic lighty uppy keyboard. Basically, Apple shouldn't have dumbed down the features on the PB when they reduced it's size - they should have kept the 1Ghz CPU, better gfx, GigE and bigger faster disk - what they've essentially created with the 12" is an Aluminium iBook.
It's sad because it doesn't address the needs of someone who wants a smaller PB!
the last idiot who called Apple users the "niggers of computing" committed suicide (incompetently, I might add) soon afterwards. Are you SURE that you want to go the same way, pal?
not quite - if you paid for your milk on an "all you can drink for $xx per month" basis then you took 55 gallons a day and resold it - you would expect them to complain, no?

You sound like a total loser to me. Tangerine Dream, speed metal AND gothic progressive?? What the fuck is wrong with your ears?

Impossible with M$ running rampant, I'm afraid.

use an English language dictionary to check your spelling as you type, and your posts will end up looking better than most Americans'.

Think PINT, think MUG, think WHITE, think TWO SUGARS.

because Microsoft writes the rules - and nobody likes to play by them...

"Apple's desktops are the sleekest or sexiest, but unless you home build you own whacked case with neon and shit, x86 desktops look like crap too."
You think all that neon crap looks GOOD?
Do you also drive a pink Caddy?
you're laughing at him, but a car's colour has a PROFOUND effect on it's value. If you're looking for something cheap, look for something white!
Sorry, mum.
ATHLON you mindless fucking goon
aww come on!
are you a geek or a mouse?
"The only other thing I wonder is how 7200RPM ide drives benchmark against my 10kRPM FCAL disks."
surprisingly well, if they are fitted with large (8MB+) caches and are on individual controllers. ATA drives are quite a compelling buy these days.
