ACKKKK!! Will everyone PLEASE stop talking about Lynx as if people still use it!!!

And if you are using it, get a clue! I have handhelds that can run Firebird or Ie just fine!
In all seriousness, I use the browser that takes the least time to open, and on a fresh install of XP Pro w/ swap file turned off and all patches applied, IE opens in a snap, so I will keep using it. :) Firebird is pretty close second as far as opening speed. Anyone else have a good graphical browser that is very very fast to open? Not fast for page renders, I just want the program up as soon as I hit the button!

All those folk with a cell phone?? You allready have one of these, no need to fret. Just have 3 base stations sent pings to your phone, triangulate position, and big brother will be there shortly. Oh, your phone is not turned on? Sok, no need for it to be on. This type of device continues to become more popular, and the amount of power that goes into the hands of people who control this is amazing. Just because its in the terms of service that they will not release this information, how much would it take for someone who REALLY wanted to find you to go see a low level tech @ the cell phone place, pay a bit of $$, and whamo get your exact position and heading. The age of privacy has been over for a long time, people are just waking up too it.

I agree. We have a NAS maxtor MaxAttach, which has a SCSI port on the back just for a tape drive. I think that the largest Maxtor drive right now is right around 600 gigs (ours is 300 gigs), but it would be simple enough to replace the drives with larger ones. Then just slap a LTO drive on the back and setup your backup to tape to run every night, and overwrite your backup to disk to keep the maxtor clean, and you will have a fast recent backup and slower snapshots on tapes. :)

See, there are 2 camps of Linux people.

People like yourself, who want a free open source OS, but care very little for the general public. F%#k em, you think, because they dont know about Linux, just let em fry with DRM and big brother breathing down windows update and back doors. Because they dont know linux they are beneath me.

Then there is the second type. These linux users enjoy helping other people out, and introducing them to a wonderful open source operating system. These type of users help others out on message boards, even when they are asked the same newbie question over and over, because they realize that there is a learning curve to a new OS.

Lets try and be a type 2 man, there are a lot of people out there who dont know anything about linux, or dont know enough to actually start USING it for everyday purposes. You flaming the boards just makes them want to stick with windows just to avoid your elitist bullshit attitude.

I thinkn that is a definite problem. Just because your folks had the cash to send you to school long enough to cram a degree down your throat does not in some magical way gift you with common-sense. That is much more a function of upbringing and experience.
