I guess it would help if your tracking escaped criminals and hunting them down with dogs. In battle, your not going to be tracking down wounded opponents. Your focused more on an objective and securing a position.
You have been watching preditor too much.
I was a grunt for a few years a decade ago, I imagine like most things in the military the usless Airforce will get all the new stuff, the Amy will get a little of it, and the Marines will be opening gear package in the Vietnam era.
All, joking aside... I don't see a need for color, I do see it for medics. But frankly for your average soldier patroling and or fighting at night, "where's my tarket" is all you need. Keep it simple lik binary... 0 or 1....Target or no target.
End users are not really technical. Sales people deal with these people day in and day out. The Techies are great at making the product the way they see fit, not the way the end user needs it to work.
Technical managers in my experience seem to do less discovery in the clients process and work flow. The outcome is a lame barely sufficient product set.
Tech managers should listen to their sales staff more often. Bridge the gap!

Having a bad day?
Deep thoughts...by Jack Handey
The next time you're having a bad day, imagine this: You're a Siamese
twin.
Your brother, attached at your shoulder, is gay. You're not. He has a
date
coming over today. But you only have one ass.
"In a report released last week, the committee recommended giving six board seats to "at large" users, with one each coming from North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and India and the Asian Pacific region."
Just six? That is less than the majority of the body that makes up ICANN. ICANN seems to be doing a good job butting heads with the "users at large" The users at large should be defining the how we "navigate the internet".
politics and technology have a long way to go still. More techies need to run for office!
seeing it on T.V., openly discussing it, and knowning it exists is the first step for the NSA to be accepted. Desensitize the public, put positive spin on it (we fight crime and terrorist.) then continue to secretly snoop. Mean while the public is not so critical of the NSA and there sneaky objectives. NSA lobbies for more money.....and gets it.
It is all about raising awareness of our good friend the NSA.
WOW! "Early estimates suggested 75,000 tons of energy had been released during the minute of jumping."
Couldn't they capture that energy some how. Next time they peddle on exercise bikes that generate electricity and sell it to California. Heck why don't California schools put every kid on a exercise bike for full length of a class period while at school. Physical Ed. is covered and California's energy crisis is cured!
"Pocket PC 2002 is also optimized for the enterprise, with support for VPNs (virtual private networks) and terminal server clients, she said. The operating system also allows Pocket PC users to easily "beam" information to users of Palm Inc.'s operating system through the infrared port."
When I upgrade I will still be able to pass info to co-workers and friends with out a whole lotta of hasle. Glad to see them persuing that. Are there other handhelds that will do this?

Who it is way too early for that statement. No one in linux has a $30B mattress fund fr freakin rainy days....wait microsoft does.
Linux still needs to come a ways to be comfortable in the market like Microsoft
Well they both had a pretty big presence at the linux expo. And i saw plenty of ipaqs running linux of sorts. I sure hope they both under one umbrella will continue to support linux but in an even stronger manner.
utimately the bush administration will take heat from it. especially from an international scope.
This is the 3rd blunder this year that hit headlines.
Bush is so asking for more heat from arab nations. I can not believe the U.S. government is still pulling this crap off.
When is this ignorant pitiful administration going to get their act together. When is Dik Cheny going to start taking over the helm form bumbling Bush.
Go Colin Powell!!!!!
maybe these real life students have something to teach. Absolutely no one had a rational grip with what was going on through this huge tech boom. Frankly I do not believe anyone has one now. Watching the news certainly doesn't help, everone has a conflicting opinion. These VETS have been to war and have come back with unique experience that the general public does not have.
I give these guys props for holding their heads up and pressing forward. This is a tough world and you got to give credit where credit is due.
From what I saw at the expo Caldera had a really kick ass product. They're webmin tool is way kewl too. They need to seriously lobby for money, I think it is well worth the effort to keep them around
I think this is just a simple stumbling block. In the future just about anything and everything will be searchable. Our society demands it!

I don't find it difficult to get on a beta list for games. Blizzard is pretty kewl about putting a lot of people on betas of their up and comming realeases. I am sure other gaming development companies do the same...if they don't they should. This is a great way to test a game and see if it is to your liking.
The price was fine....FREE if you just went to the exhibits. $25 if you registered late. But heck even at $25 that is well worht it. I do agree the cost for the keynotes, and other stuff could come down a little. But the expo needs to make money too. over all it is all worth it.

I was disapointed to see less software venders there. Last year there were pleanty of new ideas and projects started. You really noticed how the down economy has weeded out a majority of them. It was a great expo over all (a lot of hardware). To bad some of the newer up and comming software and development projects could not get a presence there.
Maybe someone can start a non profit drive to sponser smaller up and comming groups?
