Well, having it as a BTO option would be nice for me. I've got a bluetooth capable phone, and with my T-Mobile service, I can get online anywhere I have service on my mobile phone. I don't even have to take it out of my bag. Just do everything via bluetooth.

I know not everyone will have this capability, but when I price out my next powerbook, it'd be nice to have more customization on my order.

I was fortunate to be included in a meeting with an Apple product manager for powerbooks, not powermacs. Apple may very well succeed because of the low investment necessary...

Not that low of an investmet at all, actually. According to this interview:

TIME: Can you say anything about [Music Store's] development costs or Apple's investment?

Jobs: I had somebody comment today, "Now that you have introduced your store, do you expect a lot others?" And I guess our answer is no. This is really hard. Over the last several years we've created an infrastructure to pump oceans of bits out in the world for movie trailers and stuff, and that's tens of millions of dollars for server farms and networking farms ? it's huge ? and we've already got that in place. And to have millions of transactions, and to get our online store all tied into SAP and have the auditors bless it, that's tens of millions of dollars. We have one-click shopping, only us and Amazon have that, and then to make a jukebox ? how much does it cost to make iTunes and make it popular? A lot! But we've got that. And then iPod, if you want to make an iPod, what does that cost? Well, nobody has done it but us, people have tried, but they haven't even come close. That's a lot of money. So we've already made these investments and we can leverage them. And then we've invested more on top of that to make a store. But to recreate this, it's tens of millions of dollars and years. That's why I don't think this is going to be so easy to copy.

If you do use them, then you should appreciate what you have and shouldn't mind shelling out a few bucks to support the development of these apps. What??? From maccentral.com
The shining star of Apple's product line is clearly the iBook. During a conference call with analysts, Apple CFO Fred Anderson was quick to point out that iBook sales in the education market had tripled in the fourth quarter. In fact, iBook sales were up overall -- way up -- both from quarter to quarter and from year to year. Last year, Apple moved a paltry 89,000 iBooks during its fourth quarter, and during the previous quarter, Apple moved about 190,000 iBooks. For this most recently reported quarter, that number was 251,000. Outside of the Power Mac G4, the iBook was Apple's biggest moneymaker -- it pulled in $334 million for the company.

Apple clearly knows where its markets are and what its consumers want.

...Any one of these critical flaws might doom the product - take them all together and you have another classic corporate farce.

Apple is the only leader of innovation in the computer industry. Intel just closed down its division of computer peripherals. Hp and Compaq have had to merge due to dwindling sales. Apple is the only computer manufacturer who's making money right now. And it's all due to knowing its markets and making high quality products, and being a forward thinker.

When was the last time Dell, HP, Compaq, Gateway, M$, etc. put out an entire line of products, both hardware and software that were part of a cohesive plan for tomorrow? Never.
