THe good old days of '95-'96? Try '89-'90 when there were still Apple// BBSes that ran off of a really slow clone of Citadel 86. Ahh those were the days.
You just described EVERY e/n site out there, starting with stileproject.com, and going down to archu.com, rebel-alliance.net, etc. MIght as well block the string "e/n" since stile has a million copycat sites.
. Every one of these and many more are blocked as "Extreme," which puts them in the same category as photos of mutilated dead bodies, bizarre hard-core pornography and child pornography.
All I ever ask for in a GUI is hot keys. I use them as often as the mouse. That's the only thing I can think of that helps me speed up productivity, whether it's Ctrl C/V/X for cut n paste in just about any app(as well as ctrl+shift for more specific cut n paste) or Alt-Tab switching, I use them all the time. Even the weird ones that make you contort your fingers.
Should we get Sally Struthers to help these poor, impoverished people stuck on dialup? C'mon. Internet accesss isn't everything. In america, we got things(quality of life, etc) GOOD.
dust. Many places in the US don't have access to DSL, ISDN, Cable, etc
Reminds me of the item in Brainstorm(1983). Imaginge a reel-to-reel tape player, but intead of a black magnetic tape, it was all reflective n shiny like a CD.
If it's anything like "The Pretender", I just might start reading books again.
The last books that really held my attention where I read them start to finish was The Fugitive Game and The Watchman. I love those kind of books since they read like an adventure.
They need to make it a more Engrish-sounding product like "Happy Cow Luck PDA" with a cute little cartoon character(like Hello Kitty!) giving you the peace sign to REALLY market it
I remember someone did a ghetto fire under some trunk connection near a bridge, and Minnesota was out of Internet connectivity for a whole day. Whoo hoo!
Yes, rec.toys.lego is the OTHER newsgroup I stopped going to. I wanted to talk Technic, but that ng and other hobby-oriented groups are all-ebay nowadays.
After finding out he was in Roseville, I had that idea too.
Hey, how about this? You take digicam pictures of 1986-1992, and I'll take 1993-2000? He'll have 2 forms of verification, and we'll be able to snapshot the whole lot in about 1, maybe 2 days tops.:)
I frequent rec.games.video.classic, a once-great newsgroup for talking about videogames of yesteryear.
Unfortunately, the newsgroup has turned into a market place. 70% of the newsgroup posts are conssting of "For sale" and "for auction" posts, and the remaining 30% are urls to ridiculous eBay auctions, such as $70 for Pac Man for the Atari 2600.
And now it's on here? Don't mod me down, but this article seems to be more of a "Check THIS ebay auction out!" post, or worse yet, an advertisement.
If anyone else ever frequents r.g.v.c, you know what I'm talking about, and who Bira Bira and Sum Guy are.
Funny you should mention that. At my company, when someone leaves, we see the same letter over and over again, but with a different name. MS should make a "Resignation Wizard" for situaitons like that.

Anyone got a map of Sim City for Silicon Valley? Maybe they can solve the problem through a simulation.
The sad part was, I had better luck meeting chicks off of BBSes than off of the internet.
How pathetic am I?
In some places it's Perkins instead of Denny's.
They should make a sitcom out of this. Couple guys bickering about in a space station(er, ship).
Wait, they already did. It's called Red Dwarf.

Were you trying to 1) log into an NT box 2) bring up that security box thing or 3) reboot?

Didn't somebody make a padlock that took 70 years to finally pick?

Now I've seen everything. Slashdot infomercials cleverly disguised as "articles". Those VA geeks are gettin' real smart!

Paint Shop Pro
Name ONE other program that can do even half as much as Photoshop for as wide a variety of media.
Is the word "mutant" appropriate here? It sounds like she's one of the characters from X-Men with some special power that the rest of us don't have.

So where's the substantial amount of expansion ports, as mentioned in the caption?
I wonder if Slashdot were around 5-6 years ago how many OJ Simpson-related DNA articles we would have seen.
