Could it block out pictures that would make one self puke your guts out? You know, like 95% of stileproject.com's pictures.(just take out anything brownish colored and in a linear shape). If they had that selective blocking, I could visit that site safely at home.
I don't see why there's so much enthusiasm for Linux on a palmtop. It seems most of the Linux zealots like to do their work from a CLI. I don't think that will translate well to a Palm pilot. I don't feel like typing in shell commands with Graffiti.
Somebody HAS to do a re-release of this. Mind you, it wouldn't be too hard if you could get your hands on the Tunnels of Doom Editor(which I had, lots of fun!) since it showed you alll the monsters, magic items, and other stuff. The maze was generated dynamicaly.
The only thing you'd have to reverse engineer was the game mechanics.
WIth the simple(yet good) graphics of ToD, someone should port it to the PalmOS.
Maybe ICANN has an agreement with kid-filter companies to make sure it isn't *too* easy to filter out the porn sites. Think about it. If every porn site ended with.xxx, it could possibly render CyberPatrol and other companies who have to hand-make porn site lists obsolete. Hence, no profit from selling such software.
I am amazed in how he used pre-Star Wars lego pieces/figures for this. Like the Ghosts as snow troopers, for example. And i love the giant worm in the asteroid was a shark.
The millenium falcon was nice too. Someone else made it down to the T, using little minifig antennas(often used in LEgoland construction vehicles as control sticks) in the back of it to simulate little hydraulic pumps. So, including the official Lego version, there's been 3 millenium falcons made.
I know waaay too much of this from a Lego Maniac's perspective.
Soo, how does one solve the problem of a fully removable stereo on smaller cars? On my Triumph the gearshift is right in front of the stereo, and I gotta shift to 2nd or 4th gear to change stations. Any options to stuff it in the back like a multi-disc changer?
Has anyone tried the Cybiko MP3 player, much less OWN a cybiko? They kind of remind me of some PDA geared for teenagers, and the MP3 player is free with it.
Of course, I am going to be cautious. I bought a Vlink expecting to talk with all sorts of people, but found out(after buying anotehr one) that the practical range is about 20 feet TOPS.
Look at it this way. I'm still waiting for updated software/drivers for my STB card for Win98, and I know 3dfx ain't gonna give 'em to me.
My friend's off-brand TV card won't work in Win 2000, and I doubt he'll get new drivers for that.
What are the odds it'll ship with support for any Free OSes?
honestly? i would say zero; every TV card i've ever seen is marketed to the lowest common denominator (which, obviously, isn't linux users).
I recently got rid of my long distance service(Excel), and ever since then, AT&T has been calling me off and on, sometimes up to 3 times a day, INCLUDING SATURDAYS! Even when I bsed with one of the AT&T reps and eventually said I wasn't interested and hung up on her, I still get calls from them. I know each time since it always shows up as "UNAVAILBLE" on my caller ID box.
I know, I should ask them to put me on their "do not call" list. Hopefully they won't sell that list(of legitimate phone numbers!) to someone else.
Are you sure the N64 is a failure? It seems to stil be popular, being bought from people who grew up on the 8-bit NES. I'd almost say the Super Nintendo was a failure compared do the Sega Genesis.
Oh, and if you want to count Atari's failures, do NOT forget the Atari 7800 with its library of "classics" and the fact it came out way too late. Nobody wanted to play Karateka again compared to Shadowrun for the Genesis.
Don't forget the Sega Master System. Nintendo buried it alive back around 1985. The games on it were pretty shallow(from my experiences), and the 3d goggles weren't all that.
Soo you could say Netscape is the Atari of browser companies. Used to be at the top, but now it's history.
Heh. Obviously the filter software reads at a threshold of -1 and clicks on links titled "i set up a mirror here"

Now I'll NEVER get a driver update for my ailing STB TV card.
We need Captain Open Source!(seriously, I'm not being sarcastic about it this time)

Heh. Perhaps a compromise would be "homebrew(like beer!) Atari unit"
Custom Handheld atari 2600s? As opposed to those regular, plain-jane mass produced portable Atari 2600s everyone used to have?
Not to be anal retentive, but slashdot headlines are starting to become less and less accurate as time goes by.

Have you seen the destroyer droid? It is a technic work of art. Can't transform worth a darn, but it's very nice looking.
I saw this page a couple years ago.

I like that one tank warfare game that comes free with the Force Feedback joystick.

There's a simple solution to this...
Kill any disgruntled or soon-to-be disgruntled employee.
Employees who resign will find themselves on an island where giant white baloons scurry around the place.
Why is this on Slashdot? This has absolutely nothing to do with the election!
(attn moderators on crack: This is meant to be a joke)
Nahh, IRC will last forever, just like Citizens Band. 10-4 good buddy!
I don't see why it was rejected. There's about 20 other election related articles here spanning several topics.
Well "Compaq Holds Off on Crusoe" makes it sound more like Crusoe is going to be delayed instead of being shelved altogether.
Wait at least 30 days and see where it is. Anything under a month after the debut is all hype and frenzy.
Don't you think it's going to go Berzerk first?(ok bad pun)

Why am I not surprised you posted that as Anonymous Coward?
Intresting fact about the Atari XE game system or even the Atari 5200 was that it had the same guts as the Atari 8 bit systems.
