    Sure we can. You because YOU say we can't, doesn't mean anything. Especially what you judge has "basic facts". You need to read beyond whatever you've been reading.

    Hezbollah is dragging the civilian population of Lebanon into this by hiding amongst them, and rocketing Isreal as they do it. They set up next to those UN peacekeepers, they've kept some Lebanonese people from getting out of their homes in the south when those people try and leave. They've built tunnels back INTO Israel carry on this war.

    This is part of their whole gameplan. That IS a fact. The only way to disarm them is militarily. They're not going to go willingly, and they're certainly not just going to give up all those missiles that Syria has been supplying.

    Before you go patting yourself on the back...

    Considering he's the first president to allow funding for stem cell research (yes, not creating an embryo to kill it, but using ones that were going to be discarded), you should give yourself a +100 on that scale you used.

    Look, "1984" has been happening for a long time now, and people are willingly participating in it.

    What am I talking about? Politically Correct Speech. Some group of people decided they didn't like what language people were using, and they've somehow gotten to get a lot of people to go along with it. It's to the point where if you don't use politically correct speech for things, some people get really pissed.

    This person would have been fired for posting *anything* on an internal blog. Contractors are hired to do a specific job, not spend their time blogging.

    The list was released at the International Super Computing (ISC) conference, not the Super Computing conference (SC). SC'06 doesn't happen until October or November.

    It's funny how people think this is "so bad" when something worse has been going on for a very long time now.

    The novel "1984" also featured "Newspeak", which they used to try and get rid of all "undesirable" words and concepts. Bad? Nope... "Ungood".

    That's been going on for years now with people trying to force everyone else to be "politically correct" when they speak.

    Nothing was preventing anyone from signing up, other than not knowning about it.

    Taking other applicants just because of their sex *is* sexist... I mean, if there were more qualified applicants, and they are being passed up that does a disservice to everyone involved, especially GNOME itself.

    "An Inconvenient Truth" is more of "A Convenient Lie".

    Gore runs around about yelling about Manbearpig, ranting and raving..... A few years from now, when the climate cycle changes again (remember in the 70s when the next ice age was just around the corner?), they'll declare that their efforts were successful, no matter if they have impact or not.

    I'm glad to see that scientists are finally getting heard on this issue, rather than self proclaimed inventors of the Internet.

    This reminds me of the scientist that was ridiculed at conferences for daring to suggest that ulcers might be caused by bacteria. Oh, it was "common knowledge" that such an idea was ridiculous.

    Until he was able to prove it.

    First off, it's the gas refineries that are the problem, since there are so few.

    Considering that the Democrats have prevented new gasoline refineries from being built in the last 10 or 15 years and that the oil companies profits on one gallon of gas are around 9 cents, I find your arguments (and all those links you provide), completely unconvincing. Don't even get me started on the amount that ever single gallon of gas is taxed.

    We'd be better off building more refineries and eliminating some of the massive taxes on gasoline, and spending less time citing hand picked statistics.

    You're implying a stereotype; please don't take swipes at people like that.

    There are many nerds that end up down there. I had a friend from school that went down there (He was Lebanese), and liked it quite a bit. I think he's been down there for about 15 years now, with a brief lapse to South Florida before he headed back to Alabama.

    Sure, sample size of "one", but people do like it over there.

    The media does this ALL the time. Does he only notice this when the media reports on something he doesn't agree with?

    Well welcome to the club, RMS. If this happened more often on topics like this that you're upset about biased reporting on, you'd understand why so many other people in this country are ticked off at the media.
