Being wealthy and graduating college has next to nothing to do with being intelligent and well informed. There's plenty of idiots out there with a college degree and cash in their pocket that couldn't tell you the advantages or disadvantages of the TPP if their life depended on it.
There's always going to be stupid, clumsy, lazy, skill-free wastes of the act of human reproduction and air that think the world OWES them something.
People like that will NEVER be rich. Because they'll never put the time, effort or capital into it.
So, basically, entitled old white people, i.e. Trump voters
Instead of trying to centralize the operation and running cables all over the place, you should be thinking about distributing the task.
How much horsepower and/or interaction does this updater app require? Why not look at getting a bunch of cheap/small computers for this task like a Raspberry Pi or a NUC or something? Seems to me, that you could even design something that would approximate an embedded solution. Maybe even add an LED that turns green on completion. Then just carry around a mini keyboard/trackpad and a battery powered portable monitor in case you need to interact with any of the computers.
...turn that damned chime off.
Why can't I leave my keys in the ignition and the drivers door open at the same time??? Yeah, I know, blah blah blah, people forgetting their keys blah blah blah, but at least give me the option of turning it off without having to start pulling fuses.
We have a healthcare "system" insofar as there is a "system" of for-profit corporations intent on providing the absolute minimum level of products and services in exchange for the maximum amount of cost in a ruthless race to the bottom who are insulated from market forces by an insurance system that also happens to be playing the same profits vs. human life game. The only thing that makes this even resemble a "healthcare system" as the rest of the planet knows it is that fact that they are legally forced (by the government) to provide you with care regardless of your ability to pay, at which point they turn around and push you out on the street freshly stitched, and hand you a bill for more money than 80% of the population makes in 5 years.
The thing that I don't quite understand is if an indirect ICE powertrain is so great, why don't they try to apply it to every model? Can't an electric motor output any torque at any RPM, limited only by how much power you can cram into it? Forget the batteries, if I were a truck manufacturer I'd be all over that. More power, better milage, more control at low RPM with high torque, what's not to like. And to think of all the advancements that could be made to the ICE if its design requirements went from a broad range of RPM/torque to one specific setting, or perhaps a few (for variable electrical output).
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that the indirect gas/electric powertrain design has legs even without being supported by large battery banks.
Somehow this feels like the best idea in this whole thread. It would probably put an end to the practice pretty quickly with a well placed public backfire.
You know, alot of those $69 printers have rebates on them too. Wouldn't it make good sense to go buy a new printer, take out the ink cartridges and send in the rebate and then sell whats left on ebay, even if the printer gets sold for a dollar you're still saving money?! Right:)

I'm seeing a lot of armchair experts on this thread. If you've got time, go watch the video of his presentation, he explains the factors involved.

Meh, wake me up when I can print out a chicken sandwich, a pillow, and a couple hits of LSD...

sorry for the pun...
I remember seeing this and wanting to build a cloudclimber of my own to fly...
