The worst terrorist attacks in United States history occurred less than three weeks ago, and you people are discussing "Email's Birthday".
How does "Email's Birthday" help the 6000+ people that died as a result of being burnt to death, ripped to shreds, smashed, blown to bits, jumping from 80 stories to their death to avoid being burnt alive or being pinned between thousands of tons of steel and concrete for a week?
My *GOD* people, GET SOME PRIORITIES!
Quite frankly, the 6000+ people who died in this unprecedented tragedy could give a rats ass about "Email's Birthday".
You people absolutely disgust me. You are all poor excuses for human beings.
I am almost ashamed to visit this site after seeing the terrorist attacks in the news on this site for a few days and then just brushing it aside and moving along as if it was no big deal.
You people simply play too many computer games and thus have no grip on the reality of this tragedy.
Its obvious that computer-playing-linux-geeks have no sense of reality, are very self-centered and have no regard for human life.
You should all be glad that you are alive and well and able to masturbate as frequently as you like while looking at goatse.cx, and not stuck under 100 stories of a collapsed building with your penis sliced off from shrapnel.
Does anyone know how to use Apache to filter out pop-ups and/or this code that 'breaks' your back button? I currently use Apache as a proxy to filter out ad's and replace them with a 1x1 transparent GIF... If I could make this addition, it would further my attempt to get rid of ad's/popups/other garbage...
Something that just occured to me on the subject of computer generated pornography is this:
Lets say someone generates an image of a person that looks to be under age (<18), since this image was generated using a computer, there is no real person involved, thus there is no age. Just because the image may resemble someone that looks say, 13, this doesn't mean that the person who generated it even had that age in mind, as there are people that are 18+ that look only 13.
And who is going to determine what is considered computer generated child pornography anyways? How real does it have to look in order to be considered illegal? If I generate a really bad quality picture of a supposedly naked child, is this illegal, or would it only be illegal if it looked incredibly realistic? Just doesn't make sense. This is comparable to making a drawing of a naked child illegal.
The second case deals with whether computer generated imitation porn can be treated with the same laws as porn involving real people (the particular case deals with child pornography).
I don't understand this, I see nothing wrong with computer generated images of pornographic nature, especially since they aren't real, thus they have no AGE and especially since they aren't exploiting real children.
Secondly, why should ISP's be held responsible for verifying your age before allowing you to view certain content? I thought that was the job of the sites dealing with content of that nature. If a minor walks into a liquor store and starts looking at a nudie magazine, is the store going to be held responsible because he was able to access the magazine that was at the top of the rack hidden behind Teen People?
I hope you realize that those hosts serve more than just the ads, they also serve like 99% of yahoo's images... I use the same thing in Apache to block ad's, and I think they store all the ads in the/a/ directory,
Ok, currently I use Apache as a proxy that will filter certain images/sites/paths that contain banners/ads and replace them with a 1x1 transparent GIF. This works pretty well, except throughout the day I come across more sites that arent being filtered because they have ads from a different host/path/etc. So isnt there a way to write a rule in Apache to detect an image size in the html and replace it with a 1x1 GIF based on the image dimensions?
Also, does anyone know how to modify or block HTTP_REFERER and HTTP_USER_AGENT using Apache? I used to block these headers using Junkbuster.. And I think you can actually have Junkbuster go through a second proxy (like Apache) so that I would actually be using Junkbuster and Apache as a single proxy, but I'd like to only have to use one at a time...
I do something similar, however, I use a 1x1 transparent GIF, which I think looks better.. On sites like Slashdot, where the banner at the top is just on top of a single colored background, it works great.. all I see is pure black. However, on sites with like multiple different layers of colors, I will see an empty box where the banner is, in a color that doesnt match the top-most color..
Then I just set my browser to use 127.0.0.1 as a proxy, and with the above example, slashdot will have a pure black area at the top with no visible banners.
...using Apache as a proxy that filters out ad's and replaces them with a 1x1 transparent gif? i started doing this recently, and on many pages it looks beatiful.
A Dreamcast running Linux with a Broadband Adapter could be used as a router (routing a broadband connection to your ethernet network).
I'm sure the various Linux Router On A Floppy projects could be ported to run on a bootable CD on the Dreamcast...
Although, like my current setup (an old Pentium running Freesco), you need one NIC for a bridge to the rest of your network and one NIC to connect to your broadband (dsl/cable/whatever). So the only problem is that you can only use one Broadband adapter on a Dreamcast...
Although, in the newer versions of SyGate (Windows gateway software), you can run it using only a single NIC and a hub (your network connected to the hub, along with your broadband modem), so maybe you could do it that way.
Anyways, if this were possible, it would be pretty neat to use a Dreamcast as a router because my current Freesco setup seems a bit bulky for the task (big PC case that only houses a motherboard/floppy/psu/dual-nic's).
Only thing that might need to be considered is running the Dreamcast 24/7, not sure if it is designed to handle that type of load. It does have a fan, but who knows...
That these terrorist attacks could get even scarier soon?

Since Tuesday, I've been sitting in my room watching the TV coverage 24/7.
Constantly flipping through the news channels to see who has the better coverage, or just to get away from one channel showing something lame like a church gathering.
As new discoveries are being made and evidence being found, it is almost like watching a movie.
The worst part is that since Tuesday, I haven't left my room, I haven't eaten, showered, pissed, shit, etc.
At one point I soiled my pants and now my butt is starting to really itch. But I can't leave, I'm addicted. I have to piss really really bad!

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^http://us\.a1\.yimg\.com/us\.yimg\.com/a/* [OR]
Not sure if the syntax is 100% correct, I'm pretty new to Apache.

Before I read the paper, I cut out all the ad's with scissors.

However, on sites with like multiple different layers of colors, I will see an empty box where the banner is, in a color that doesnt match the top-most color..
I no longer use the HOSTS file, since that just gives you a broken image in the web page.. anyways, my apache setup is like this:
/gif/1x1.gif
you need to load two modules,
LoadModule proxy_module modules/mod_proxy.so
LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so
<IfModule mod_proxy.c>
ProxyRequests On
</IfModule>
<VirtualHost *>
DocumentRoot "<your apache path>"
ServerName localhost
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^http://images\.slashdot\.org/banner/*/* [OR]
RewriteRule ^.*$
</VirtualHost>
Then I just set my browser to use 127.0.0.1 as a proxy, and with the above example, slashdot will have a pure black area at the top with no visible banners.

I've found that denying access to java.yahoo.com via HOSTS file blocks those :)
he could be in some hot water. get it, water (aqua), haha, lol, rofl, haha.
i should get out more? you just said the point was made on tv, why would i need to get out to watch tv?
that "nimda" is really "admin" backwards.

Indeed, in fact I would feel much safer/better running a car mp3 player that runs DOS or Windows, a clearly superior operating system.
anyone else notice that "nimda" is "admin" backwards?

When encryption is outlawed, only outlaws will use encryption.
perhaps by the time this becomes a problem, they will have modified the vegitables to not even go bad ;)
