  8. Re:Wow on Motorola Releases an Official Bootloader Unlocker · · Score: 3, Funny

    Why so complicated and technical?

Unlocking the bootloader can cause death, because the one doing the unlocking probably proceeds by rooting his device and putting god knows what on the device.

Next thing you know, the guy is on the road exploiting the GPS functionality of said and unlocked/rooted device. But the GPS is now a bit flaky (just buggy software or intentionally misleading)
and instead directing the guy to the real highway gives him a parallel side-road but displaying to correct one. The guy - feeling really good about everything and listening to the pathetic music
coming off the car-radio - does not notice a thing.

Next thing you know some guerilla guys stop his car, help him get rid of his earthly possessions and one the way to the heavenly roads. Nice and quick.

So, unlocking your bootloader can kill you. And no explosion in your face needed for that to happen.

One still could design a hybrid port which allows both. Yes, it will probably take extra room on the side of the device. But I'm sure it would be possible. Given enough incentive. The solution would be patentable. So Apple should still love it.

  17. Better design on Apple Files Suit Against Motorola Xoom In EU · · Score: 0

Yes, better design, of course. Except Motorola Xoom is better than iPad.

    In almost every way:

    1) Hardware design - much more powerful, and that wide-screen!!! (aargh ugly ipad)
    2) Product look - just nice, not as thin as ipad, but really better. Except that SD-card.
    3) Software design - I don't know it just seems so much better and flexible than ios or wthever it was. Thanks Google.
    4) Customer support design - So much promises about software update in Europe and I'm still calm. Joking here.

So I really don't see the basis for Apple actions. And I'm sure this all could be said about Galaxy Tab 2 too.
    Oh, I own Xoom.
