When you actually realize that this is a 95% MS subsidised (usually by way of employment of inhabitants) then you understand that Linux is probably really unheard of...
HP announced long ago that they were going to be supporting the next release of Pro/Engineer on Linux and that RedHat was their distro of choice. Pro/E was recently released to the people on service contracts (like us, we have copies here) so it is probably in their best interests to fill out their product line.
FYI they do have dual DVI on extremely high end cards. We have a dozen or so machines with Quadro4 900XGL cards that have them. By extremely, we're talking $1000 per card here, not your everyday joe-consumer card.
I don't know the technicals behind it, but I'm sure there's a reason. One thing we noticed is that you can't get Pro/E running with OpenGL mode on in dual display land with the windows dual head configuration, and the nVidia TwinView truely suX0rs. Do you like having dialog boxes in the middle of the screen and things like that? Thought not.
So here's the question, for those of us without a big head for licenses... and I'm sure there's more than a few of us out there in this prediciment
I work on a consulting project that uses Async for Builder that is extremely closed source, i.e. in the code there exists a password routine that would allow one to walk up to any of a certain make of skid steer loader and drive away with it without a key, just by looking at it and with no special tools!!! So, there is a -5% chance of this going OS. There's also dozens of little builder and delphi apps running around that use Async as well.
If I want to switch to the *NEWEST* Async available when it comes out, does that mean I would have to release the source?
Then you obviously don't know what a pharmacist really does. The 8 or so that I know don't count pills, that's what pharmacy techs do. The real pharmacist looks at the prescription and makes sure the doctor wasn't on crack when he wrote it.
A doctor has to know how the body works and know all the warning signs for about half a million diseases, and the tests for the signs. Are they supposed to know all about 3/4 of a million drugs, their side effects, their dangerous interactions with the other drugs the patient is taking, and the proper dosage?
I don't know how many times I've talked to the pharms' that I know that said some doctor prescribed something that was way too much/little for the patient's body or would've given them side effects that were worse than the origional problem.
Hell, if the town my Grandma's hospital was in had a decent pharm. maybe she'd still be alive, rather than the drugs (to treat the side effects of the drugs (to treat the side effects of the drugs)) causing her kidneys to rot out of her body.
It definately does. Our company SELLS Sun and does much Pro/E work for a(THE) large skid steer manufacturer and we're switching away from Solaris boxes to windows just as soon as our purchaser gets the boxes ordered. Main reason? $20,000 sun boxes are barely comparable to $3500 Intel boxes. Now if only we could have waited another 6 months to make the switch, but our old Ultra2's are about dead now.
But site licenses are a different beast entirely, i.e there's no per seat cost on that (if I understand it correctly)
However, I'm sure the minister could swing some kind of deal from MS considering the masses this would affect, and seed, with MS tech (or lack thereof;) )
So are we assuming that this includes free webmail services as well? I know before I had hotmail throw away the junk mail immediately I was in the.5K per month section.
I'd like to see the stats on those services. Particularly johndoe@hotmail.com. Who else has sent that guy some subscribes from a website?
Actually, that's how pork gets in there. People throwing unrelated bills in to one that's steamrolling the competition so thier agenda's can get through.
Ya know, all they really have to do is put it somewhere on the dark side of the moon and we'll all be safe;)
Now just as long as some meteors don't get sneaky and try to sneak up on us from behind
Actually, I pay for cable, and the logos are all over the place there...
But there probably is a better reason for it now with the time shifting devices and people "perhaps" recording off cable and PPV. If they can slide their logo in there, you're gonna be subliminally reminded that you taped Enemy of the State off of TBS and go back for more...
So could this manifest itself as a connection that suddenly stops after a couple of seconds? i.e a SSH that will crap out if it tries to display a screen full o' stuff (pine, vi, lynx)
Damn my cable, never had these problems on DSL:(

But it would be a nice thought.

This is no doubt to make that official.

It says that it takes addresses from your mailboxes as well? Coupled with all that spam that was reported on a bit ago, this could be tons of fun!
Send your junk e-mail accounts this virus, check them regularly with outlook and get the spam writers back! WOOHOO!

oh wait... I just realized something... the dark side of the moon is dark for a reason... THERE's NO SUN THERE! HAH....
but seriously folks, I'll be here all week, remember to tip your waitress...

They appear to be refurbished, so I would guess no rebate necessary
