Um, no. In general, I am against uninformed hatred. Imagine how you'd feel if I were modded up for saying "Pff Linux totally sucks. Nothing works on it. Its interface is horrible. And, it really isn't any more stable than Windows." Would you be a Linux 'shill' for defending it? Zealot? Linux apologist? (Note: This is one of the least impressive nitpicks I've seen in a long time. It is three dimensional if it does video. x, y, t. If it was what he was looking for, it'd be x, y, z, t. 4D. :P)

If one can buy a disc for as cheap as a rental at Blockbuster, and all one has to do is toss it in the trash when I'm done because it automatically times out, then that will be a preferable choice over renting from Blockbuster and having to make a seperate trip to return it.
    There's your market. Simple.

Whether it is successful or not is a seperate story. If they did it right, it could be quite successful. My gf and I regularly make a trip to Best Buy to buy movies for our library. There are a lot of movies we'd like to see, but $15-$20 is too much seeing as how we doubt we'll watch them more than once. I'm sure we'd raid the $5 self-expiring discs quite regularly. Blam, there is a blinking market.

So why would I want this and not the old DivX players? Simple: No special DVD player.

So is the DS non-innovative because of the Game.Com? Oh heck no. Besides the stylus actually being usable, it's on a seperate screen. Why does this matter? Because it's a portable console that can actually have an on-screen keyboard. Couple that with 802.11, and you've got yourself a hand-held console that can play a lot of the same games that PC gamers enjoy right now.

If somebody forwards you an OE message as an attachment, it attaches a .EML file to the email and opens OE even if you have OL2k installed. Nasty security risk there, thank you very much M$. I'd recommend to ANYBODY to change the .EML extension to Notepad.

Outlook XP (haven't used 03 yet) was locked down pretty hard. Unfortunately, you had to edit the registry for somebody to send you a .EXE file. I don't mind them blocking .EXE files to begin with, but editing the registry to get it back? Son of a bitch.

Thing is, the whole point I was making was that Microsoft can't just go buy or make a monopoly. They've tried VERY hard in the server market, and gee whiz, they just can't do it. They've done everything from make a better product to publishing lies about Linux, yet they still can't crack it.

It's easy to dismiss that argument as "well they don't have a monopoly there", but the truth is MS just plain cannot go make a monopoly somewhere unless they make a product the market agrees with.
