Self-interest and nraccisim completely surpress what should be the ability to see contradictions with clarity, and reduce all people, regardless of political afliliation, to defacto tools of whichever powerful interest seeks to use them. The USA no longer has an intellectual elite. We no longer have any identifiable party which can can establish a claim to the moral high ground. As cliche' as it is to reference the movie Idiocracy, it's becoming increasingly clear that it was an extremely optimistic portrayal of this nation's future.
Is that the Russians supposedly did a terrible, un-patriotic, anti-American thing, by revealing the truth to the American people. And people are screaming "oh my God, no! The truth is a threat to American Democracy!" I mean, does Hillary get any blame for what was contained in those emails? No. The evil thing was that the plebes found out what was in them. We basically operate under the assumption that, if we ever knew what they were saying behind the scenes, we would never vote for any American politician. The online economy would grind to an overnight halt. Sales would plummet. Jobs would be lost by the millions.
