A court cannot legally allow somebody access to your property in cases like the RIAA is trying to pull.
Yeah, but you -- AHEM -- signed away that right in the EULA for your software. Oh wait, wrong para-military corporate group. Sorry. My bad.
I'm pretty anti-piracy and used to be involved in the movement in Thailand, but in truth, people are ripping off the RIAA's music and not the artists', since the copyright for the music is generally signed over to the agency. The artist is just "for hire." Reference. That doesn't make using the work without license any better: I was just clarifying the matter.
It's very unfortunate that Google has diluted the meaning of "beta" so much.
It's very unfortunate that the rest of the industry (especially MS) has diluted the meaning of "gone gold" so much. Gold is the new beta; beta is the new alpha.
I think it would be cool to be able to post bounties on people or groups. Having a lawless society is not fun, but in a lawful society people choose which laws to follow and which to break. Ultimately, a character who chose to grief other characters should be punished by the community of players. A bounty would be one way for that to happen. I think it sounds like Eve excels at this kind of thing.
Ubuntu is moving away from the need for a file browser at all. Emphasis in the newer releases is on Desktop Search. It is enabled by default on 7.04 and is accessable using F12. I prefer to use the Deskbar Applet because I can search my Epiphany bookmarks, the web, a dictionary, all my files, and more using that one tool. Alt-F3 lets me find or do practically anything I want on my computer. I think that is the future, not some desktop metaphor.
Thank you. I looked over the python modules to Syncropated, but it looked like they only wanted a 770 and no other model. I'm not a python person, so I didn't go too deep into it. When she gives me the player for a weekend, I'll look into the ID/HAL issue.
I'm going to write a journal entry about this, my first ever,/. story. Wow! Executive summary: you're wrong. Everyone's wrong. I'm not interested in this woman. I not only have a sexy gal of my own (five years now), but she would even let me play around with the woman for whom I wrote the tutorial (if I wanted to).
As for the "Let's be honest..." part, I wrote another blog in response to another (male) friend's request for advice. I think that was on Monday, only a day or two before the one for the female friend. Wow. So much relationship advice for someone who doesn't even need it.
The point of the discussion was looking for a nice, graphical way for her to do it and, hopefully, see what's going on while it does. She has no concept what MTP or UMS are. I COULD write a script for her, which is what I'll do if I need to (I'd originally just planned to put an entry in the menu, but the udev rule looks like an elegant way to do it). Manually scripting the thing won't be nearly as reassuring for her as telling her to install X (probably Amarok at this point).
You obviously never read my journal. I have the hottest gf you could imagine, and we swing. She's been voted "Best Ass" at some of our lifestyle parties. I don't think the woman wants to "get with me," but if she does, she only need to ask. She's got no guile in her, so she would. She's just tired of fucking around with Korean Windows and my gal talks about not worrying about viruses with her.
I just played around with it, but it seems to me that adding thepiratebay RSS feeds in would be a good way to get good content. It does BT downloads and the main page in the player has a bunch of popular feeds on it. Torrent Portal also has feeds that work with it. Again, I'm not using it because I've set up a server specifically for this, but if I only had one comp in the house, I'd consider using it, for sure.
same setup for me. I'm living in S. Korea now, so there's very little on cable that I want to watch. We have a file server with TorrentFlux and MythTV on it. A great system, and surprisingly easy to set up this time. On Ubuntu 7.04, just install the special packages for frontend and backend and everything else is automatic. NVidia TVout completes the picture. Snazzy. I'm not going to use Democracy Plaer because I already have the set up, but I looked it over and sent a link to the webite to a couple of friends who aren't quite as geeky.
If you show middle school students about the source code, you'll mostly just get menus where every word has been replaced with "fuck."

If Google digitized BYU's library, you'd be able to see all the revisions the "Doctrine and Covenants" went through. They won't let that happen.
Mr. Anderson, it seems that you've been living two lives ...

That's what I get for not using preview, eh?

You're correct. Most geeks should not be giving sex advice.
Find a lawyer to take the case on retainer, please.
Apologies to you for the "Everbody's wrong" comment. You (plural) didn't deserve that.
Perfect recommendation. I'll put together a .deb for her and e-mail it. It's exactly what I was looking for.
Interesting. Thanks. I'll try that when I borrow it from her.

Great. Thanks man #1 for the great link and #2 for not giving me relationship advice. ;)

Great link. Thanks. I googled around for a couple of hours and couldn't find anything except the MTP/UMS information.

Yes they were made in a hurry in between interruptions at work. The spell checker was Firefox.

I was just looking at it for the first time and it has a max upload speed preference. Did you want a download limiter, too?
