Cite? Are you sure that BMI correlates irrespective of BF% or was BF% just not measured or included in the stats?>
The association between body mass index and increasing coronary heart disease risk in women is partly explained by a rise in blood pressure, lipid profile and blood glucose across the range of body mass index. Most approaches to weight loss recommend a target or optimal weight based on body mass index alone. Our data show that this assumption is unwarranted and that body mass index should not be used as the sole basis for intervention in individuals. Successful weight loss should be defined in terms of a reduction in metabolic risk, which can often be achieved by relatively modest weight loss.
I'm not a body builder, but I work out regularly. I started last year. My BMI has remained the same (over 30), because neither my height nor weight have changed, but my body fat has dropped from 33% to 16%. I am still classified as obese by the BMI, but am now extremely healthy and well below the average (22%) for my age. BMI tells nothing. Body fat percentage is a better measurement, but you can't get that number from the information on the insurance application form.
Obviously these additions would make the situation more clear, and shoudl be considered (I booted a VM just to quote them, BTW). However, I still think that the original complaint is out of line considering 1) he said that he was computer literate, and 2) he decided to change the default (which would've worked) and use the manual option when he didn't know what to do with it.
I don't see how Parallels is different for the end user than having a VM running in the background with the user connecting per application via rdesktop. I didn't mention the Win4Lin server, either. Think clients are the best way to do this corporately, IMHO.
I'm going to go out on a limb and support the GP. There are several options for partitioning when installing. They are
Guided -- Resize Master and use freed space
Guided -- Use the entire disk
Guided -- Use the largest continuous free space
Manual
You apparently know little about partitioning yet chose to use "Manual." That's akin to the Windows users who know virtually nothing about the filesystem yet insist on changing the install path for every program they install. Why didn't you use the (chosen by default) setting which would have handled everything for you automatically? Were you trying to make your life more difficult?
Honestly, it doesn't matter much in a corporate environment: You use Wine if it is stable for your app, you use a VM if you want perfect compatability, or you use rdesktop to connect to a terminal server (which could even be the VM) -- there is even the ability to connect to a TS per application so that they are well integrated into the Desktop. There are a million more ways for corporations to set this up. Ubuntu doesn't need to work on added Windows compatability for the corporation.
I don't have any links, just the experience of meeting these Chinese Indos and having them explain to me why they couldn't read or write, despite speaking fluently. (Off to Google it...) A Google search reveals that this apparently changed in 1998. As I said in my original post, my experience was a couple years ago. In fact, I guess it was during the Gore-Bush recount in Florida, because I remember sitting in a Malaysian bar at that time, watching the news.
Interestingly, they aren't used in Indonesia, despite the large population of Chinese ancestry who themselves still speak Chinese, simply because writing in Chinese is illegal there. I (a caucasian) had to read characters for some Chinese Indos visiting Malaysia a few years back.

Overrated? WTF? No karma bonus. Standard score. I actually read the article before posting. Geez! If there were more of these hitting me today, I'd assumed I god mod-bombed. As it is, I think someone is just in a bad mood.
Except for the fact that it has a top panel and a launcher, I don't see the similarity to Mac OSX (Not that I really use either of them -- just seen screenshots). Honestly, it reminds me more of WindowMaker using GnuStep apps. I think GnuStep is a great platform, though, and am glad that someone is finally puuting together a DM for it from the ground up, instead of using WindowMaker or similar. With the ease of development GnuStep gives, I guess the project could develop quickly if enough people get on board.
While I agree that this offer looks too good to be true, I routinely order nutrition products from a Korean website which doesn't even have a contact e-mail. No phone. No address. No e-mail. If my friends hadn't been ordering for some time, I would have assumed it was a scam. No credit cards, either -- just bank-to-bank transfer. They guy drop ships everything from the U.S. Amazing prices for Korea, too.
I don't play anymore, but I used to and I still know guys in their 40's playing, so I'll chime in. Yes. Most musicians don't play so they'll get "discovered" and rich. They love to play. They make CDs to sell at their gigs. They play their gigs for money, but not much, so they almost all work full-time jobs and get off work on Friday only to grab all their gear and run to the bar. They practice incessantly because they love it. They are artists in the true sense, who just want to play. Playing for people is good, but just getting some guys together and playing can be almost as good. Having people enjoy their art makes them happy, and they don't often think about "making it big." They enjoy what they do. They would (and sometimes do) do it for free.
Try Magnatune for an indie iTunes-style site. You can listen to a stream first and buy the albums you want at the price you decide they are worth, directly through Rhythmbox, if you like. If you're a cheap bastard and can stand wading through sewers full of shit to find something good for free, try Jamendo.
It seems that Moore plays loose with the facts by omitting known relevant information, staging scenes, and disingenuously splicing together video in order to make something appear to be when it is not. He does this in all of his films. The issues Moore raises need to be discussed, but should be done so truthfully and without the propaganda.
Wow. I'm shocked. This has got to be the number one set of questions on the K12OS mailing list. "How can I get {Accelerated Reader|Renaissance Maker|Foo Typing Program|Bar Symbol Program|etc.} to work on K12LTSP?" People there claim to ask their reps every time they have trouble. The get turned down. They get put off. They get asked to try the beta web app that only works on IE. There is a large community of LTSP users in schools. You've NEVER had a single request?
Correlation between body mass index and others risk factors for cardiovascular disease in women compared with men.
I was apt-getting while you were still in diapers
That's interesting, considering Debian is just about the same age as his UID is. Heck, mine's seven years old, I think.

Normally written this way:
Pronounced ki-ki-ki-ki
The sound of a laughter.
- Guided -- Resize Master and use freed space
- Guided -- Use the entire disk
- Guided -- Use the largest continuous free space
- Manual

For example, resumé.com ...

Koreans do the same thing with Naver.com ... I don't get it.
Although this page has a driver for the O2 Micro 4-in-1, I've never seen a distributution where it worked out of the box. Hope Asus doesn't forget.
Since I made the third comment in the discussion, it's safe to assume I read the entire thread before posting.
An Application menu, but not the application's menu. hmmm.

I hope that everyone has moved beyond PHP 4.X by this point. 5.X is more secure and capable.

I'll take the threesome. Thanks.

For that exact reason I ordered my new system with Intel video. 915resolution didn't help. My gal's 22" wide LCD is sitting at 1280x960. Sad, really.
