Yes, if you wander onto my property, I can have you charged with trespassing. However the police should not fine/arrest/etc you if I don't press charges. I think the real question here is whether the owner of the bandwidth pressed charges. If not, why were the police involved? I'm sure none of the fine money went back to the alleged victim.
The book is "Mortal Error" by Bonar Menninger. He also concluded that the shots he attributed to Oswald were unsurvivable though not as graphically destructive as the one he attributed to the Secret Service AR-15, ergo, any accident by the Secret Service did not change the ultimate outcome.
The one thing I have heard the most from the refugees interviewed is not knowing where their families are or wanting to let everyone know they are OK. I would think that a web based solution would be best due to the chaotic nature of the situation and the fact that people are scattered thoughout the southeast.
Any suggestions?
That's true. Ideally the weapon would be built specially for the robot, similar to the way the A-10 was designed as for the 30mm cannon it was to carry. Same concept but vehicle --> weapon rather than weapon --> to vehicle.
The UZI submachinegun is an open bolt weapon, meaning that the bolt locks to the rear when cocked and strips a cartridge from the magazine into the barrel and fires it when the trigger is pulled. If the selector switch is in full-auto mode and the trigger is held back, the gun will continue to fire until it is empty or jams. It is recoil operated, IE the recoiling force of the round being fired, operates the bolt so the next round is ready to be fired.
The UZIs are pretty reliable so jamming should not be an issue. What *is* an issue is running out of ammo. A pump shotgun holds less rounds than an UZI. Both would prove to be impractical to reload. It makes much more sense from a firepower standpoint to mount a belt fed machinegun on such a robot.
"You were never serious about the craft. Think, Jason, what is it's motivation?"
When the ATF/FBI had Randy Weaver surrounded at Ruby Ridge they sent up an RC robot to give him a cell phone. Of course, you had to reach past the shotgun muzzle to get the cell phone. Not terribly comforting.
If guns are robotized, only robots will have guns.
The article mentioned only showing politically based images to the test subjects. People who have claimed a political party are very likely to have made up their minds about a number of different issues. Is it unusual that a Democrat who feels Bush is using 9/11 as an excuse for the Iraqi war would be more upset that a Republican who feels that 9/11 is being avenged by the Iraqi war?
The results of the study would be more interesting if the subjects were shown generic imaegs. Thunderstorms, babies, sunsets, etc., and then see what parts of their brains were stimulated.
Edit out the lollipop scene and you've got a truly painful to watch movie. Of course, it's the strange kind of scenario that could acutally happen... Much more plausible than "Indecent Proposal". It may not be truly a "bad" movie, but watching it is like a swallowing a dry asprin tablet.
In fact, one episode found MacGyver locked in a cargo container filled with firearms and munitions. Rather than use one of the existing weapons platforms to blast his way out, he stripped a couple down and MacGyver'd them into (surprise) a BOMB!
I've been using a WinCE device of one sort or another for 5+ years. I've found that I use the Pocket Excel the most as it is handy for a lot of the everchanging information I need at hand. Working in a MS Office oriented company, it is simple to organize my calendar and contacts. I depend on it daily. However, I feel that I am the exception. Most people I know that have PDAs rarely have them within reach. If it's not handy, it's not useful...
Mine is an old iPaq 3150, mono, 16 MB, etc., but it gets the job done. While I'd love to upgrade, I can't justify the additional cost to do so.

Something to remember about the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan is the Soviets were trying to take over the country. This is not and should not be the US's aim. Also the Soviets were not above terrorist acts themselves. One tactic was to drop small bombs disguised as toys. I wonder if the girl mentioned in the article found one of these...

Perhaps your inflatable doll needs a tune up... :)

Hmm, if there were riots in the streets, the Dems would still be outnumbered by Republicans who are armed...

Since it should be evident that this technology will not be open source, there is a real possiblity that the Evil Empire could be the lowest bidder...
Does anyone know if this law exempts handguns purchased for police departments?

Looks like Compaq has another winner, at least in the PPC market. John
Hmm, how long is it going to be before we have the RatCam?
