Here you are letting your health suffer and killing yourself with stress to get the job done, because it is so important. You managers are breathing down you neck to get things done yesterday. Getting booted out when you give notice really shows how they view you, just another replaceable cog.
I still take the high stress projects, I just don't let them stress me out. I give them what they pay for and what they deserve.

Yeah, but do I really need to know what those guys I went to high school with and those guys I worked with 4 years ago are doing? I can get ahold of them if I need to and they can find me if they need to. The people I care about talk to me enough to keep up to date and the rest fall by the wayside until we meet up again. At least we have something to talk about without sitting there thinking, I can't believe this guy is such a douche (based on their insane FB posts).
Without FB I'm an riddle, wrapped in a mystery, surrounded by an enigma.

Yeah, and look at all those state mandated tests that suck up the majority of curriculum time.

We need to spend less time fighting with entrenched interests and work on a blitzkrieg approach. Change all the minds you can and wait for the entrenched positions to die out or be overrun. Don't waste time banging your head on a wall.

They pay lip service to helping small businesses, but it's a straw man argument. The predatory businesses hide themselves behind the new business that are constantly starting and failing. There are constantly suckers entering the market, being drained of savings, and closing up shop.

Read some history. When the constitution was created there was one Republic and a smattering of democracy in England (it ebbed and flowed with the strength of the aristocracy). Everywhere else it was basically hereditary dictatorships. It took 2 world wars to reset the freedom meter for the rest of the world. The US had a big hand in ensuring that what came out at the end was more palatable then what was started with, but there are other systems that have improved on what was started here. We should learn and embrace, not stuck our heads in the sand and try to drag our country back in time.

We are giving people protection to make something new. New things didn't previously exist and can often give you an advantage over someone else who still does not have that thing, think machine gun, or plow.
If you want a safe investment, buy treasury bonds. I have not obligation to subsidize your investment, although that fact seems to be forgotten or ignored by those currently in power.
