If it's an email, it should say "Email isn't working, ETA". My point is if the CIO says the network is down it almost certainly is not. He probably means his tablet won't connect, or his laptop battery died.
Your analogy fails because financial people don't want you to know what they are doing, their profit is invisible to you. We technology professionals have a tradition of transparency that is slowing seeping into other industries and seems to be seriously damaging the political and financial world. Don't let up!
Here's a questions someone might be able to answer. If a woman has all her eggs when she is born, why are we harvesting them from living women, why aren't cadaverous eggs a viable solution? One body donated to science could yield thousands of eggs?
There have been several recent studies of border areas where minimum wage increased. Most businesses actually saved money because of decreased training and turnover costs. Unfortunately the quality of people that are attracted to business ownership in the US is not usually the type of people that would see this for themselves.
Minimum wage is not there to protect workers. It is there to protect business owners from themselves and each other. Look at the industries that have been decimated by illegal laborers, like landscaping and construction. An honest man can't make a living. Companies spring up, undercut an existing business and then fail because the can't handle any real volume or the owner is a moron. The customers are getting a bad product, the workers are getting abused, the owners are going bankrupt and taxes aren't getting paid. You want this to happen everywhere? This is not self correcting, there is always another fool mucking things up for everyone else.
Well someone up thread pointed out that the actual amendment specifically prevents "infringing on the freedom of the press", so your worry should not be an issue.
Keep a resignation letter in your desk along with copies of your recommendations and a list of your consulting rate. Use it when someone is screaming blue murder at you.
Go look up any article, does it say written by xyz corp, or does it say written by joe smith? In every instance I can think of, when a reporter lies they are held accountable. The company they work for fires them and pleads ignorance. (well, maybe not fox)
Our current corporate structure is not capitalism, it is managementism. Who makes the decisions? It's certainly not the people putting up the money. We are deluged with tales of risk takers who deserve to be compensated. Meanwhile small business fail in droves and people who took the risk of getting a stable corporate job and kissing ass, or being born into a favorable social group, are making bank.
I would take compulsory voting over voter ID any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Unfortunately that makes the races about what people want, not who can get more of their people to turn out. Don't say there isn't a good choice, there are third party candidates, write-in, and the ability to skip voting on a particular office.

Well, owners might, but most decisions in our economy are made by managers. A particularly inept breed...

Here is a list of printers known to do this. More information here, http://seeingyellow.com/
This only seems to be a concern with color printers, but maybe there are greyscale dots?
I'm talking about the actual first amendment. Here is the actual proposal for a 28th amendment, https://movetoamend.org/wethepeopleamendment

Shut your straw mouth!
No, my point is that a corporation does not have a right to speak. What is confusing.
Yeah, my point was mostly that you should quit and let those sorts of issues solve themselves. Don't let people abuse you.
No, I just think that an issue that is so obviously in danger of change should be noted.

This is the only blinker fluid I use, it keeps my blinkers in top form.

Do you seriously believe that? Want is much more dangerous then need. I've seen principled people turn away from need.
I hope you are helping with the solution: https://movetoamend.org/
Money is not speech, corporations are not people.
Right now it's like we are electing whoever can hit one of those bell ringing carnival games the hardest...
Shhh... Most people don't remember that.
Here, I'll fix it for you.
Currently, home manufacturing sidesteps the legal issues.

I love to see people make concrete statements about laws as if they are set it stone.
I like that, 2wire is proof that your ISP hates you.
