    If it's an email, it should say "Email isn't working, ETA".
    My point is if the CIO says the network is down it almost certainly is not. He probably means his tablet won't connect, or his laptop battery died.

    Your analogy fails because financial people don't want you to know what they are doing, their profit is invisible to you. We technology professionals have a tradition of transparency that is slowing seeping into other industries and seems to be seriously damaging the political and financial world.

    Here's a questions someone might be able to answer. If a woman has all her eggs when she is born, why are we harvesting them from living women, why aren't cadaverous eggs a viable solution? One body donated to science could yield thousands of eggs?

    There have been several recent studies of border areas where minimum wage increased. Most businesses actually saved money because of decreased training and turnover costs. Unfortunately the quality of people that are attracted to business ownership in the US is not usually the type of people that would see this for themselves.

    Minimum wage is not there to protect workers. It is there to protect business owners from themselves and each other. Look at the industries that have been decimated by illegal laborers, like landscaping and construction. An honest man can't make a living. Companies spring up, undercut an existing business and then fail because the can't handle any real volume or the owner is a moron.
    The customers are getting a bad product, the workers are getting abused, the owners are going bankrupt and taxes aren't getting paid. You want this to happen everywhere? This is not self correcting, there is always another fool mucking things up for everyone else.

    Well someone up thread pointed out that the actual amendment specifically prevents "infringing on the freedom of the press", so your worry should not be an issue.

    Go look up any article, does it say written by xyz corp, or does it say written by joe smith? In every instance I can think of, when a reporter lies they are held accountable. The company they work for fires them and pleads ignorance. (well, maybe not fox)

    Our current corporate structure is not capitalism, it is managementism. Who makes the decisions? It's certainly not the people putting up the money. We are deluged with tales of risk takers who deserve to be compensated. Meanwhile small business fail in droves and people who took the risk of getting a stable corporate job and kissing ass, or being born into a favorable social group, are making bank.

    I would take compulsory voting over voter ID any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Unfortunately that makes the races about what people want, not who can get more of their people to turn out.
    Don't say there isn't a good choice, there are third party candidates, write-in, and the ability to skip voting on a particular office.
