  1. It costs $100 buck to file in Indianapolis, it might have gone up some, but it certainly costs at least $100. Then, you go to court. The fun part is if they don't show, the judge will issue an order to show. Your responsible for serving that in an appropriate way. It's not usually free.
Best case, they don't show and you can get a default judgement with a contempt of court warrant. This means if they get pulled over or interact with the police, they'll get picked up and usually have to pay your judgement to get out. (debtors prison in the US?) I'm guessing this part won't apply to a corp, but you'll have an easier time getting your judgement. Either way, your out a couple days work, filing fees, and whatever it cost to get your defendant served.
If they do show, they can usually delay things by requesting paperwork, I'm sure you've forgotten something. This drags things out and makes more court dates, which usually have at least a month between them.

  2. The point of "sanctuary cities" is that they don't ask questions and feel no obligation to act on this in an enforcement capacity. They are not required to, despite the legion of right wing Derp you find online.

  3. Wait, don't you guys believe in small government? I guess that goes out the window when it disagrees with you or presents a chance to attack liberals.
    Anyway, YOUR WRONG :
According to a 2009 Congressional Research Service report that discussed local law enforcement agencies' responsibilities under 434 of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (PRWORA) and 642 of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (IIRIRA), the "primary federal restrictions on state and local sanctuary policies" concern a state or local refusal to maintain or share immigration status information. However, the report noted that the 1996 law "does not require entities to collect such information in the first place" and the U.S Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit indicated that "Congress cannot directly compel states to collect and share information regarding immigration status with federal immigration authorities"

  4. Not from a tort liability viewpoint. Injured people sue, dead animals don't. Even if an owner steps forward and tries, there are often legal limits (very low ones) on awards for dead animals, especially if they are not on the owners property.

My wife had one. I got it at Sam's. I got a $100 gift card when I got the phone (from Sam's), then Samsung gave me a 256GB micro-SD card.
When I returned the phone, I got to keep the $100 gift card and the phone she opted to switch to, a galaxy 7 Edge, now had a $100 gift card deal. I got that too.

I'm not seeing how Samsung or my retailer treated me poorly. Aside from the tedious wait.

  7. 60 years ago it was common, 40 years ago it was frowned upon but ignored, 20 years ago it was still true in many isolated areas. Today, things are still improving.

I grew up hearing stories about my grandfather, who used to get drunk and beat his wife regularly. Wife, children, etc... He was a migrant worker, so I don't think this relates well to middle class families, but there are still plenty of marginalized people who don't get the protection they need.
My Grandfather only stopped when his boys were old enough to stop him.
