    hey, i don't like spam. can we have that declared as terrorism. i hate woody allen. let's declare him a terrorist. microsoft doesn't like people taking advantages of the gaping security maws in their software, better call that terrorism too.

    i guess that's america's new buzz. everything the gov, big corporate, and society is against will be declared acts of terrorism. drugs are terrorism. piracy is terrorism. free speech? wait and see...

    i'm sure there are many business that had their fill of outlook virii and have switched to other systems (or at least email clients.) maybe if microsoft wouldn't keep adding those highly insecure features to their products, they wouldn't have these problems.

    this article seems to be coming from a bitter management type who's pissed that one of his secretaries got inconvienced by a technician (albeit, if the technician really did what the article says, which i don't buy, he has a right to complain) and now he's attacking the tech by slamming linux.

    i deal with these types all day. if you're IT, they treat you like slave labor. if you don't make them happy or tell them what they want to hear, they bitch and complaint to anyone with ears about how we "make work so much harder for them." if this cocksucker can do his work faster on paper, then don't call the techs with anymore of your problems. otherwise, shut the fuck up.

    sorry, it's been a bad week :)

    XP looks like it's GUI was designed by fisher-price. c'mon. why is this 'new advanced technology' microsoft makes resemble something you'd see in preschool. most of the windows even have rounded edges like they're afraid the users are gonna hurt themselves on it. i think gates has some kind of child fetish because he wants to make the computing world look like todlers.

    i was going to submit a similar question. i use several windows progs for desktop music production--cubase, fruity loops, rebirth, etc... does linux offer any similar packages? or would my best solution be to run these progs from a windows emulator?

    i stopped supported them about a year ago. i quit buying industry cds altogether and gave what i already had away--no joke! (minus a few that had been autographed.) now, the only music i buy is from independent bands, producers, and djs.

    and i really wish rosen + crew would read this: i will never buy another cd or any other music product from any company that is affliated with riaa in anyway. you have crossed the line numerous times and there is no way in hell you'll ever get another penny of my money. let me put it this way: if jesus christ appeared before me and gave me the choice of buying a cd from you or going to hell--i'm choosing hell. fuck you!

    a few weeks ago, i wrote all of my home state's represenatives and a few other officials (about 6 letters and emails in all.) i received letters from 2 of them. the content was so generic and buzzworded, i could tell they hadn't even read my letters.

    no, i don't think the government listens to us. i don't think my vote really matters. but as long as they're getting our tax dollars, they'll keep pretending that they really care.

    actually i haven't bought a cd from a RIAA-affiliated company in a long time (last one i bought was in november of last year.) i buy/download from independent artists and, to be honest, download anything else i want or copy it to minidisc (hey, that's what they're for, right? :)

    i whole-heartedly believe RIAA wants to stifle any technology they can't control in order to secure their profits. maybe they'll succeed and maybe they won't, but win or lose, they'll never get another dime of my money.

    true, but if it could be set on a per device basis. such as your remote can handle up to 10 devices. you set your tv as device 1, vcr is device 2, etc. all tvs code use the same codes, all vcrs could use the same codes, but it would be device-based. if you have two identical vcrs, one is device 2 and the other is device 3, it could work.

    or how about a separate control module that all the a/v devices connect to and the control module (operated via a remote) sends the correct signal to the correct device. anyone wanna invent this with me? :)

    if they keep trying to strong-arm file-sharing and mp3 technologies, i won't buy anything from them on any format.

    but realistically, i doubt it will have any effect. 90% of the cd buyers are average joes and janes who know nothing of the cd "you'll-use-it-like-i-tell-you-to" scheme and probably won't care.

    this clown is so full of crap. he's sugar-coating his real intend. the goal of the record companies, his customers, is to eliminate every fair use that could possible to used in a way they don't agree with--it doesn't even have to be direct copyright violation. they don't want you playing cds in your computer at all for the risk of copying the music, or at the very least, you'll have to use some secure cd player program.

    he can bullshit consumers with promises of keeping fair use intact, but in the end, it's the record company he has to make happy. i hope this clown fails, and fails big. sad part is, he probably won't.
