Just in case you're reading slashdot and have some connection to IT, you should be able to know that Linux cannot become or me a "monoculture", because there are so many "flavours" of it. Do you remember the famous Microsoft poster against that diversity in Linux which would be dangerous?

So, it is obviously in the interest of their customers to lower prizes as much as possible. Why, then, do they not lower the profits for their shareholders (who come after the customers, according to their list) and their managers so much that the prizes could be significantly lower? Amazon, you are such a modern company: If you don't want unions to achieve a the best for your customers, you should get rid of this old-fashioned concept of profits, too, right? If Bezos and his morons believe people in the lowest service ranke could live of X USD/year, why don't they lower their own incomes and profits not to the same level? "We all are a big family here working for the best interest and expierince of our customers", I hear them proclaim: So, just do it!
If you think that intelligence is based in material objects (no spirits and ghosts etc.) and if you think that evolution is a natural and unstoppable process "built into" any "materialistic", physical universe, than the conclusion can only be: Humans are just one step on the ladder of biological evolution, and very probably the last biological one. The next step will be "artificial" intelligence, evolving itself faster than we ever could, designing its material basis according to its needs (e.g., being a submarine, a space ship, a robot for different worlds out there to survive under conditions no human could ever survive etc.). It would not have to start to learn from the beginning, it would not have to carry its "biossphere" around with itself, it would be able to use any kind of energy source, not just "eatable" stuff etc.
Why should modern humans be anything different than any earlier species in the evolution like Homo erectus or Neanderthals?

Those reports about the US battle ship blinded "electronically" by one (older) Russian military plane in the Black Sea and the suspicions, a similar technique was used by Russians and/or Chinese to make US battle ships crash into commercial ships in South-East Asia had been caused by electronic weapons and/or infiltration of the US systems seem to be true?
Someone with business connections to Russians developing such systems told me 6 months ago that the Russians had such a system and/or remote access to the software of US weapon systems and even to some databases with personal data of all US military staff The Russians only would only be "kind" enough not to demonstrate that power in full size against the US because they think the US army is still somewhat useful for the unstable stability of the world: Imagine what would happen if the Russians would demonstrate that the US army is the emperor without clothes and that they can bring down any US weapon system easily from the distance? A world-wide "anarchy" would breakt out that would be even worse than everything the US caused since 1945.
Usually, ISIS or other islamistic terrorists leave their passports – so the Russians must somehow have learned from them to leave a digital trace or fingerprint that allows the clever German authorities (paid by my taxes, I'm sooo proud of them, really!) to identify the attackers the same authorities that did not realize that they've been hacked for about a year (for the second time, by the way).

Someone who made his billions with digital technique (and greedy exploitation, of course) does not trust any digital technique to work! This is a clear sign that we cannot trust digital data for "eternity", not for 10,000 years, not even for 100 years. Ask Vint Cerf!
