Chuck Jones: Extremes and In-Betweens -- A life in animationwas a great documentary I caught a couple of years back. Among some of the fans giving there insights were Whoopi Goldberg, THE SIMPSONS creator Matt Groening, Ron Howard, TOY STORY director John Lasseter, Steven Spielberg, and Robin Williams.
But what kept bugging me while watching these people give praise to his work and what joy it gave to them, I couldn't help but think what a shame it is that a lot of the original works are cut or not shown in their entirety or not at all. Here in Canada, the only looney toons is the road runner show shown three times a week. Most kids growing up in Canada right now probably only have seen a fraction of the great classics. I understand it's much better in the U.S. with cartoon network but here viewings of the originals are practically nil.
I live in toronto and I am a subscriber to sympatico dsl for over 3 years. I use my bandwidth constantly and they have never complained of my usuage. Can't find it on their site or their user agreement but a few reps have told me that I am allowed to use my bandwidth 24/7. From what I understand, this is due to the nature of dsl not being shared, so I'm not a burden to anyone else in my area. This I thought, was always one of the key advantages to dsl and its a benefit to the customer and to the provider as they do not have to 'police' for bandwidth hogs. I would think dsl would jump on this and have it as a new feather in their cap in the advertising wars as to which one is better. I know about five people on rogers@home in my area and a couple have ok access, but the rest suffer from so much packet loss (especially at peak hours) its pathetic.
Besides the crappy upload cap of 128kbits (wasn't like that prior to pppoe) , my dsl is great. So, because how dsl networks are structured, am I, as a heavy user any more of a burden that there should be a new pricing structure or is it truly as it seems in that my heavy usuage is no further a burden to sympatico versus a light user?
cyclefx has one that hooks up to your bike and a stand alone one. Check them out here. The have a PSX version and a (more expensive) PC version. Pretty pricey but would seem to elminate the issue of how effective a workout it is.
I remember over 10 years ago and seeing something about VR and all its applications. One example was someone on a exercise cycle with VR glasses on. I pictured racing with a friend and actually being able to look to your side and see your friend pass you. And with the internet, I thought of the potential to race someone online.
Well 10 years later and VR still seems in its infancy. There have been advances in VR in medicine but the entertainment potential has not been lived up to. I tried some of the original games (like Pterodactyl's Nightmare and some world war II air combat game) Both were horribly low res, and not to mentioned caused eye irration, but what really ruined the experience was the really low frame rate. Some might accept 30 fps(which those games didn't come close to) in games, but I think this technology really needs rock solid 60 if not 70 fps for this technology to be appreciated.
Could the new type of glasses with the projection on the lens be modified for two screens and made large enough to envelope your vision? Do they have effects on vision with prolonged use?
Surely we are at a level now to do dual low res 60fps to really experience VR in something close to its initial hype.

It's been known for years how evil he is. From his alcohol abuse to his ties with Hitler.

The one story line I'm looking forward to out of this series is the creation of the prime directive.
In TNG, they have mentioned that first contact went horribly wrong and a war ensued for a century when first meeting the klingons. This is what initiated the creation of the prime directive for future first contacts.
