gnu/linux is a richard stallman fantasy. Linus Torvalds came up with Linux he has naming rights he does not use "Gnu" anything. He specifically thinks the gnu title is silly.
The ugly fact is Stallman and his buddies have been working on gnu/hurd for a decade with really nothing beyond a 12 year old alpha to show for it.
He wasnt banned from the US for calling the president a bad name he was banned for writing a letter "full of abusive and threatening language" language towards the president. The moment anyone who not a citizen or a resident of the US uses threatening language towards the president of the United States it is quite reasonable to keep them out of the country. The fact that the british police thought it important enough to come talk to the kid and take his picture says something.
If a non-resident sent a threatening message to the queen or prime minister of the UK, they would do the same thing...bar the person from the country. Its common sense.
Replace "corrupt police" with "disgruntled employee", "sneaky competitor","greedy bastard" , its just in Russia sneaky competitor and government are one and the same.
atheros chipset drivers have had open source drivers for sometime which is why I choose atheros chipsets for my network needs.
I wrote an email to TP-link telling them this and they wrote me back thanking me. The good thing for TP-Link is that they dont have to make linux drivers they just make products that support the existing atheros drivers.
"government has no right to speak negatively about what this guy is doing"
There is no "official" government view, the President has a viewpoint, the congress has its viewpoints, etc, etc, etc
The President of the United States has the same right as any other citizen to express his views, the fact that his views may have persuaded rackspace to yank the nutjobs account is irrelevant as long the President took no official action to cause this. Auditing someone in retaliation for refusal to do what the president says is illegal and isnt necessary.
The bully pulpit of the presidency has been used many times and is completely within the Presidents perogative
Now hes saying the claims are personal vendettas not CIA plots. If Assange is no longer claiming "cia!" why are people still claiming diversion and conspiracy.
Even if he did nothing he may have just ticked off the wrong woman!
Im 6'4 id rather be standing on a short flight(less than hour) than sitting in some of those cramped seats with the idiots who thinks their right to recline into my knees.
If you look on distowatch at top distros by page hits
1) Debian based distros (add Ubuntu+Debian+mint+Mepis) 2) Redhat based (add up Fedora+centos) 3) Mandriva based (add up Mandriva+PclinuxOS) 4) Suse 5) Gentoo-based (Sabayon and Gentoo)
Slackware is ranked like #13 not bad but behind archlinux.
I use closed source nvidia drivers with no particular ethical issues. Most linux users (more than 50%) would be perfectly happy if their favorite game worked on linux whether it was closed source or open source, native linux or WINE.
As a linux user I will say his "holiness" Richard Stallman does not speak for me.
World of Warcraft and EVE online run just fine on Linux with WINE. Neither company uses DRM on their client. EVE online had a native linux client but the WINE version ran better.
Despite all the mythlogy about "too many distros" the truth of the matter is that 90%+ of linux users use spinoffs of one of four distros (debian, redhat, suse, and mandriva) all of which run WINE just about the same.
Also homeless people instead of begging at intersections can just go around and collect bottles and cans for the deposit. My 84 year old father told me during the 1940s when he was out of work after the war he collected bottles that were along side the road. Theres nothing orwellian about can and bottle deposits. Its not a fine its a tax, a refundable tax at that that is effective in promoting recycling.
It is doing an awfully bad job of it. In the US you can turn on the radio and hear people calling the president a muslim, a fascist or homosexual. You can turn on the tv and watch people almost completely fabricate new charges against obama or his underlings. Castro has been in power for 50 years, North Korea has been in power for 60 years. The US does a better job when it doesn't try to silence enemies.
For recklessly putting innocent lives in Afghanistan in danger but if these charges are phony and this looks like a distinct possibility,
Im all for finding the person who made these phony accusations and prosecuting them.
If it was a US intelligence agency,Im also for prosecuting any agents involved for violating civil rights under color of law. I suspect someone had the asinine idea that they could cook up a phony rape charge as a way of creating an interpol warrant. Then when the swedes arrest him on the rape charge then the US indicts him on some sort of intelligence issue charge and asks for extradition.
Wheels are simple and they work. Cheap and good enough beats state of the art everytime. What SpaceX is trying to do is move away from expensive overly complicated launchers to simpler more reliable less expensive ones.
While Linux native code would be nice, just getting popular games working properly in WINE on linux would be a great start. If you knew say you could add 2 to 3 million potential customers with compatiblity code tweaks...that would be worth it to many companies.
World of Warcraft and EVE online are two games that have great WINE compatiblity, and there are sufficient linux users for both that they have their own forums on the gamemakers sites.
If they can deliver on reliable space station freight contracts...getting a billion dollars for the next generation rocket engine would be almost effortless unless the group backing the Ares aka the Pork Launcher get their way.
Why would you develop the Falcon X? What could you do with the ability to launch 125 tons into space affordably?
Simple answer...Space hotels, private space labs, Really big communications satellites, a few extra space stations,
Advanced Technology Large Aperture Space Telescope or something similar.

Ferengi rule of acquisition #76 Every once in a while, declare peace. It confuses the hell out of your enemies.
3 dimensional memory cubes would be revolutionary, memory sizes could expand geometrically...(only a mild pun intended).
Also with 3 dimensions of wear leveling you probably wouldnt wear them out for a very LONG time.
Oracle is already killing off opensolaris, suing google over android, and who knows what will happen to mysql
or openoffice down the road.
Microsoft paranoia has blinded us to the enemy in our midst. Bill Gates never did as as much damage to open source
as Larry Ellison is doing.
between the Lincoln memorial and the FDR memorial you have no business going to Washington DC.
However if you decide to go anyway, they do have still pre-printed maps checked for accuracy
that sell at any gas station or book store.

There are competing factions and often the left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing.
The president doesn't know everything every agent does.
The swedish government on the other hand has nothing to gain by indicting this guy and plenty to lose
if they are wrong.
