I sure would. You know how friggin aggrivating it is to have to rebuild your computer and install windows in order to play a game? I had been happily windows free for a while, maybe two or three months. But then the NWN linux client didn't ever arive... and I wasn't going to let a $60 game rot on my shelf. And you know, the only thing in that makes NWN worth it anymore are the few really excellent modules that come out (3rd Ed. Conversion Series is an excellent one, the first Witch's Wake is nice too) and this www.nwnserver.net . It is a clone of the original NWN in the new NWN. Most of the areas that I frequented are there, and its just great.
I use Gnome, as I think its usability surpasses that of KDE. KDE 2 has trouble doing the simplest of things -- like storing my font configuration correctly. For some reason, it decides to set all my system fonts to a cursive calligraphy font one day after I changed the fonts to helvetica. Some are stuck like that, like the fonts in the control menus. That when I had it up to here with KDE.
I had the same problem with Redhat 7.2. Thats the reason I switched to gnome. I've never even wanted to go back, even though KDE can look pretty nice. Gnome may not look as nice by default, but at least it works.
>>yea yea i meant to type debian linux not linux, it's been a long day of tests and my brain skipped it
Hehe, no worries. I just saw a nice chance to get some karma;-)
I wasn't aware that Ian Murdock created Linux. I always heard that Linus Torvolds made linux... oh wait,, you meant the guy who created Debian GNU/Linux... Okay.
Actually, this is a real conspiracy theory.
I took a class in pseudo science last semester, and this is one we examined. I don't remember the details of the guy who invented it, but I think he was friends with the guy who invented the Men In Black junk. Not the movie... that was a bit better than junk. Anyway, supposedly MJ-12 was created by a secret order by FDR or one of the next two presidents. It was interesting because the typewriter used to write the order wasn't invented when the letter was supposedly written. And the signature was 1/3 bigger than normal, and an exact match of a previous executive order, so it was a photocopy. Anyway, its a real thoery.
While some of these toys look like great fun, particuarly the crossbow ( anyone remember Secretary with a Crossbow from Dilbert? ), I'll stick to playing UT and such at work. More safe violence, less effort.
Why would anyone really wanna use J# as compared to c#? It seems that C# was mostly a rip off of Java anyway... is J# just more Java like? I'd still rather use c or c++ anyway.
From the article: It has been estimated that 90% of the processing power of most computers is underutilized. How ironic that this statistic parallels our own brain power!
I don't know about the author of the article, but I'm pretty sure I'm using more than 10% of my brain.
The biggest problem with Qt that we have at my job is that the cost is per developer, it cost more to get licenses for multiple platforms, which kinda was the point of it anyway, and the faq used to say you couldn't develop with the free edition and then get licenses before you release. Which stinks if you want to see if your product is doable in Qt before you shell out the cash for your development team to start working.
Maybe its just me, but $750 for a farm size of 5 seems kinda pricey for a few moments saved here and there. At my job, we have pretty speedy machines, and almost nothing we have built has taken more than 10 min for a complete recompile. And since you rarely recompile everything, its usually a couple seconds to a minute to compile your changes. I can't imagine that this would speed that up enough to justify the price.
Before you go buy the geforce 4, I'd finger johnc@idsoftware.com, and read his complaints about the geforce 4. I think the complaints were limited to the geforce 4 mx, and the ti should be fine. Who knows?
>>are having trouble getting jobs, including with
>>the people they worked for on co-op.
Is that because the market was too tight, or because they bungled things up while on co-op?
I really like saying bungled.
I don't know how much certifications really help, except to show that you have "experiance." Your two years of co-op should have counted for a good bit. Maybe the area in which you are looking for work is just really tight, and they need someone with a bit more experiance. Have you tried looking for a job somewhere that was less crowded?
I'd assume that after you bought the book, it would be illegal to simply remove the device. At least here in the states it could possibly be seen as a violation of the DMCA.
Overall, I don't have a problem with people wanting to prevent theft, but I do have a problem with them continuing to track the book after its sold. Why do the powers that be insist on taking every last bit of privacy away from me?

Yeah... but how do you compile it?
From what I hear, definate correlation. I'm hearing now that there is a workaround for 7.2 that fixes this. But even so, I still like Gnome.

Actually, there was a closing I. I don't know what happened to it.

Is Star Office that much better than open office.org? Or is it just the name/image thing?
Didn't MS just say that thier software was a national security risk? Ah, forget it.

Right... thats why I had experiance in "'s... sarcasm...
