Yes, this is too much to ask of anyone, I know, but maybe you should try reading the article. It teaches you how to tilt the bottle to identify losing/winning game pieces. It is not a method for generating winning codes.

I'm not saying Davis is an angel. A lot of things have gone wrong, very wrong, under his watch. But people are quick to blame the guy in office when there are so many more factors that cause these things to happen.

So you tell me, was it money or genuine hatred of Davis that brought this re-call on.

Both. Davis made mistakes. Issa took advantage of it. Don't try to pretend money wasn't a factor, though. And please stop throwing that partisan crap around. Neither of my posts attack Republicans or Democrats as a party. It's one man taking advantage of another's misfortune.

Issa paid signature gatherers $1 for every signature that was collected in the recall effort, which came to about $2 million out of his pocket. He did this because he wanted to run, but that was before Arnold was a sure thing (and perhaps before he found out that no one really likes him anyway).

So, tell me... do you think that, without the motivation of collecting $1 for every signature turned in, that anyone would have bothered to turn this recall election into a reality? Nope. Nobody else offered money for the signatures. So Issa bought a recall election. Simple as that.

I bought a Maxtor 120GB drive only a few months ago from Best Buy, also with two rebates (store and manufacturer) and both forms, like yours, asked for original UPCs. It was probably a mistake, though, because I called Best Buy's rebate center and they told me it was fine to just send a copy of the UPC.

My guess is that, by default, they ask for the original UPC but probably adjust that requirement for these rebates where there are two (or more) rebate forms. A call to CompUSA almost certainly could have saved you $30.

According to this passage of the TCPA, telemarketers must honor your do-not-call request for 10 years, not one:

vi. Maintenance of do-not-call lists. A person or entity making telephone solicitations must maintain a record of a caller's request not to receive future telephone solicitations. A do not call request must be honored for 10 years from the time the request is made. [as amended 7/26/95]

the term "linux crash" brings up about 445,000 hits. Your point?

I hate when people fall back on Google hit statistics. They are absolutely useless! Google is an unthinking search engine that will return any document with the terms you ask for, regardless of their context. You're bound to get all kinds of documents included in your results that have no place in your argument whatsoever. For example, you might get the weblog of a guy who says "My friend was in a car crash." and later says "I tried out OSX."

Please don't use Google this way. It does nothing to prove your point.

It just wasn't the same! The clean, stable, incredibly fluid (almost as if it were >30fps... is it?) motion of the digital version really gave it a nice touch. There were no random sound pops or hissing going on. I would love to see more of these theaters, and I know where to go when Episode II comes out...

    Is an "AOLinux" really feasible?

For the most part, AOLers are not tech savvy people. What will Mom do without her Microsoft Word? How will Dad play the latest Deer Hunter game if he's running Linux?

In order for AOLinux to succeed, it seems to me that application support will need to be their biggest priorty. Since this operating system will (presumably) be Linux-based, the rest of us Linux users benefit too, right? Perhaps, finally, we will get the application support that has been missing for so long. That would be nice. And if they fail: I don't think we'd be much worse off. Linux development will always continue. That's the beauty of open source.

So I say: Good luck AOL/TW.
