War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery. Welcome to our brave new world where it is 'common sense' to ban everything that doesn't fall in the 'consensus'. I'm waiting for the day when the internet archive gets 'purged' of subversive and 'bad' content. For the people.

I think the issue is who determines if your political belief is valid and if it will be censored or blocked. Internet Explorer's new 'fake news' warning in Edge is a slippery slope to outright blocking of the content in a future release.

I like it...but the dang thing keeps giving me 'out of memory' errors and crashes all the time. It'll freeze up every time I go to the control panel to check the memory and it will not reset holding the button down. Not acceptable. I can view slashdot.org but digg.com will crash this thing every single time. lots of problems with this device, should be better. I'm hoping for a firmware update. note: was very cool VNC'ing to my mac....almost like having a mac tablet! needs work. lots of work before its production ready. Fry's and Circuit City have a ton of them here in phoenix, but I'd wait for version 2.

its how EASY it was. Experience "Just Works" vs. "Should Have Worked But Doesn't WTF?" Its a no-brainer - my Gramma could do and its done, rather than 4 geeks and a reinstall disk. Why waste your life and time?

  8. Wow! on iTunes 4.9 With Podcasting Support · · Score: 0

Just downloaded iTunes 4.9 to this 1999 iMac running OS X Panther and it now streams podcasts to my 1995 (Cassette only) Bose box connected with an Airport Express w/Airtunes. Amazing what you can do with Apple's software on ooooold equipment and get amazing sound quality. Now all I need is to set up a scheduler to run iTunes to wake me up in the morning with some snazzy new podcasts. This is good stuff, and the quality and functionality are impressive. Talk about breathing new life into old equipment. Yeah, the old iMac is pretty much just for (safe) web browsing and an incredibly good iTunes interface. Old iMac's are sweet deal for $100.

same same...i don't care about format, just that I don't have to screw around to hear good quality music or convert all my crap for the next player. Chalk format up next to Just Already Works. Should be a no brainer: plug in, turn on, sounds good. Let me spend my life on what's important.

once again Apple sets the standard of cool and the non imaginative copycats pop up out of the asian woodwork like termites. it's all about the software. sure, the Mac Mini has cool design and is dead sexy quiet, but the OS and bundled software is what makes it kick ass in features and value. yes, you can probably get 'similar' software if you go look for it for windows, but out of the box user experience, "Just Works" Apple poops on everyone.

I can't agree with you thinking that the direction of Apple is the desktop market. It isn't. You'll see an Apple Internet OS using Quicktime/iTunes on Windows [horned beast like cow] and media domination. Apple will be one of the top Internet companies. There are interesting things happening with that Apple trojan horse QuickTime with the 400 million installations on Windows boxes. Watch this segment...grow. there are surprises in store. I think MS as well as Google have a lot of surprises in the next couple of years that are under wraps, we have a huge OS battle in the makings, we can only see the fringe. this is going to be fun!

I love that. All this time people have been calling Apple products 'proprietary hardware' when its the future of computing. Now look at MS's direction, powerpc and a rigid hardware architecture with little support for third party hardware... gotta use what the 'boss' has designed the software for... I say cool. Less bugs more fun!

Yup. and there is a REASON the audrey is now on the discount shelves. actually two: 1. they used to cost too much ($499/549 depending on the color of the box you wanted - very silly). 2. 3Com got into deep doo doo financially and dropped their IA (internet appliance) division, called Ergo. I bought two audreys from tigerdirect.com. $89 bucks each plus $29 for a USB NIC. Very sweet little girl with a touchscreen and QNX. Very hackable. You should see what people are doing with these things. everything from x10 touchpads for the home to 14 watt webservers.... and more to come. Gotta love it! (and now because of it, I'm completely in love with the QNX OS. Ever install an OS in LESS than 5 minutes and that boots in 14 seconds on a crappy little box? Nice RTP boys and girls. and audrey likes it.... lol!)
