I don't. Analog is still better. Unfortunately for the unwashed masses 'good enough' is just that, good enough and in the consumer world 'good enough' sells more and the people that care about quality often lose out.. A big part of the reason we got stuck with the lesser quality VHS instead of Beta.
Not that i agree or disagree with his observations, but the problem is we don't have a true capitalistic economy here. Its been borderline socialist for many many decades. ( which personally i think is a natural progression due to how people 'operate' as a group )
So we really don't have anything to judge his writings with and its just a bunch of hot air trying to get ratings by using buzz words.
Ok, ill give you that on the huge companies out there, but what about a mom and pop shop that barley makes a living selling their home made widgets? Why should they have to defend themselves, in effect?
$200 for.xxx $200 for.net, info, biz, bla bla bla.... ( and the time spent maintaining it all ) It does add up after a while.
its no different, just an extension of the same scam.
I still remember when the top level names actually meant something.. ( and i think was enforced, or at least it seemed to be back then )
Someone like Microsoft wouldn't be allowed to register a.org, or.net.. Now its a free for all, and forcing companies to take preemptive steps and forking out the cash. ( for a large company its not a lot of cash, but its still wrong.. and for a smaller company it can add up. )
The entire name system is a total disaster at this point.
The few Chinese 'branded' items i have bought in the past have not died at 90 days, so i don't see a problem with it personally.
Besides, if a company like pandigital can make them for 150 all day long and sell them here in the US, then someone like lenovo should be able to do it for 200..
if the sub-par Chinese manufacturers can have functional tablets under 150 all day long and still make profit, why cant we have a 'decent' one for ~ 200? Not a 'great one', but a 'decent' one.
it all reminds me of the apple/commodore 16 bit wars.. All we ( *we* as yes i am as guilty as everyone else back then ) was fight and bicker amongst ourselves while the big blue machine steam rolled past us.
See where all the bickering got us?
It's going to happen again here if we don't pay attention and work together.
umm i just ripped a DVD i bought last night so i could put it on my portable player. So not months for me.
The last music CD i bought went thru the same process about 2 weeks ago.
Until music/video/software only comes on flash, there is still use for optical drives. And no, it being online isnt a substitute, some of us want a physical item for our purchase that can be stored away, and not rely on it being available 'in the cloud', or our current device whenever we want it. Between stupid DRM and companies going bust, no thanks.
A far less expensive "clone" would have a shot, but currently Android tablets are not clones, they are 'alternatives'. ( not saying they are better or worse, just they are not the same and people seem to want Apples at this point )
Or if you're concerned about the data's safety locally (journalist working in a dangerous area, someone taking pictures of authorities who might take the camera away) you can even set the device that's receiving the images to upload into a remote FTP or some kind of cloud based service.
That is how my fairly inexpensive Nikon point and shoot works now, it sends pictures to a ftp/http site for later retrieval. Rather annoying that its tied to THEIR service however as i would rather it just hook to my server at home.
I have had a SD wifi card for years. It was for a PDA that i had at the time that didn't come with it nativity. I don't see the big deal here, but don't doubt the have made one, again.
Also there is this problem that if you don't enforce your copyrights and trademarks once you know about the violation, you lose them. They may have had no choice in the matter.
The ONLY reason i would upgrade is to color e-ink. I already have a LCD 'tablet' and it sucks for long term reading. The only reason i use it to read it is that tech manuals suck in b/w. But if i don't *need* color at that moment its back to my e-ink device, which i can read for hours on end and not hurt my eyes, or worry about the battery for weeks..
Oh well, perhaps hancom will bring one of theirs to the states that isn't stupid priced.
We need 'just yet another tablet' like we need more taxes.
I get why most 35mm cameras have been obsoleted,

Sounds like they are trying to get a wholesale warrant to search anything they want, just to due suspicion reported by almost anyone.
Even if they had to have 'evidence', that is easy since so many people have WIFI now.
And you are responsible for all activities on your account.
A review of a non-free book about a non-free application. *yawn*

They invented a boat.

so you intend on writing all your own stuff then? Since all companies will ditch underperforming offerings, that means you cant use ANY product..
The lesson is to use paid services, and always have an exit strategy. or just suck it up and expect things to change.

There is your main reason. No revenue for them.

Then that leaves me out.

Then more for a mouse, and more for a keyboard, oh and something to display it on.
These are less functional then the old ZX80's
The telcos have far too much control over the FCC to allow sometime like this to happen.
Im surprised wifi was allowed 'out of the labs', with the potential for neighborhood mesh networks.
Its some holding company who bought the rights. What most of us would consider Atari has been gone for a long time now.
I don't think that anyone actually wants us to use the internet.
Sure they do, as long as they can get a reoccurring fee out of you for trying it.
Well, if it works...
Just what we need.
Not really, but you go on believing that.
