Since when is an advertisement considered content ( to us regular folk, not the media giants that care more about the ad then the story, and often the story IS an ad )
or just don't buy ( lease ) their content. My kindle has 100s of books on it, with no DRM on any of them. So does my ipod..30gb of 100% unencumbered music..
I'm genuinely puzzled by the people who can't figure out what a DOS-compatible OS is good for. Don't you people ever need to apply BIOS updates? Or run hard drive diagnostic software?

Having been around before Microsoft and understanding what DOS is, i totally agree with you. However, with modern tools like Bart, you can get by with a dos box in 'winders' to even flash a bios, tho a bit overkill.
There still a lot more embedded "DOS" machines out there then people realize. Not just POS type of machines, but in manufacturing as well.

There has been an unsupported port for a little while now which except for some network and cdrom issues seemed to do ok.

They wont learn until it directly effects them.
As long as it remains a hidden monster, they wont know, or care.
They will just lump those into the piracy bucket and whine more.
And more people will go the illegal route.

If it threatens their base, its gone. Currently its just a bunch of 'outsiders' that have zero impact on Microsoft's bottom line.
Or hoping for a lucrative buyout and subsequent retirement on the beach..
