You can use free tools to convert PDF ( and other formats ) into the e-book format that it eats. ( at least for the Gen1 Kindle.. )

Especially since you are comparing lines of code in OSS to lines of code in CSS, Its like comparing 2 fruits, they are close, but not the same.
Seriously, go buy a small lathe and mill and make your own. Its not that hard and not that expensive if you are making small parts.

But if what you buy is declared illegal, is it still legal to posses?
