In a lot of areas they are the only cable provider, so they have a virtual lock on the local market. ( yes, i can go DSL for network and dish for TV, but its a different medium so it doesn't count )
I was one of lucky ones, but it seems they recently flexed their muscles and bought ( forced ) out my local cable company. So now i get to share in the pain of trying to use the service that i paid for with legal uses.
Mandatory Death for idiot bands/people like this. ( and no, i don't mean it in a business way )
All talk like this does is piss off what little bit of fan base they have left. If they are too stupid to understand that free sharing of music HELPS them in the long run, they shouldn't be around to pollute the airwaves with their trash.
I still pay cash on most items. Its really no ones business what brand of bread i *personally* choose. My 'discount' card is linked to a long address off a short peer.
That is why some of us pull out the battery when its not in use. At least they cant track me *between* calls. ( and since phone-booths are being phased out _ )

The key to hosting a web site that won't be taken down or attract authorities is to ensure the writing is done in the style of the web site called Jesus General. For instance, in my local community the governments-of-the-day are encouraging the public to support surveillance cameras on every street corner. My response is that I absolutely agree -- and those individuals, be they one or thousands, whom wish greater privacy on camera have a personal right to wear black shoes, black pants, black hoody, black baseball cap and black sunglasses in public giving them absolute privacy on or off camera.
*snip* A few years ago id have agreed with you about the black hoody idea. But today im not so sure. There are SO many cameras they just might be able to track you long enough that you ID your self by default. You eventually go home, or get in your car. Hard to eat with that hood on too ( and some places kick you out for it ). They may not see your face, but they know who you are.
if you want to have a rational discission of the potential dangers, you can leave your misguided concept of 'god' out of things.
And for the record i do agree the chances are small of the worst case scenario happening, i think the chance is still high enough to be concerned considering what is at stake.
I operate under the premise that if there is a way to totally hose things, 'man' will find a way.
Isn't removing DRM, its producing content worth purchasing.
DRM is just an irritant at this point. Yes, it can/will grow to be more then just an irritant, but we are talking about the collapse of the music industry here, not the long term ramifications of DRMizing everything that moves.
I agree that traffic will shift, but that might just be the thing that forces the government to make EVERY road a toll road by installing GPS in your car, and taxing you on actual miles driven.
Perhaps the CDs they offered were just garbage and not worth taking. Most current 'industry' recordings arent worth the trouble to take home and use as a coaster.
Besides would YOU take something from the devil ( or the coyote if you are a bird ) if he had it laying out on a table with a sign that said 'free'?
Everyone is a terrorist.
Now, please turn yourself in and check your rights at the door. You will be much easier to control as an ex-felon then a plain citizen.
Thats why you never get involved with a software lease. You are tied to them forever then, having to be forced upgrades, etc.
It may cost more in the short term, but at least its yours to use 20 years from now if you feel like it, and turns to to be cheaper in the long run.

Yes, it was a joke. At least i hope it was.

Sure, its not much, but its something.

Welcome to the party, our British cousins.
Is it tea time yet?
Who do you call? its not like it will officially exist, so i guess you are just out of luck getting your car/house/foot replaced.
If you arent hiding anything, you have nothing to worry about.
Of course I'm joking, but good luck finding a place 100% secure, anywhere in the world.
Not that it matters much at this point.
This could be far worse in the long run. WTO expansion anyone?

We don't have enough information to be playing around with this stuff. One mistake and we wipe out all life as we know it.
Perhaps someday, but not yet.
Better encrypt that SD card too, as if they find it during the search its a simple matter of reading what is on there.
While i agree with you, its not been that way in the courts as they seem to want to consider anything digital as 'something different'.
They seems to toss out the 1st and 4th all the time if it 'digital information', like its something different.

But only if the government agrees with what you have to say.
Wait until everyone else does the dirty work and buy them or force them out of business.
That is the advantage of being an monopoly with more $ then all the rest of the players combined.

Updates will be the least of this guys problem
Sounds like you need another IT partner, at the least.
And good luck having branch offices with no server. Only way i can think of doing that is 100% terminal services.
Oh whats the difference beteen a "branch office in a box" and a branch server? I bet nil.
