    You should be able expect a certain level of anonymity out in public, as a law abiding citizen. Sure you can be seen by others, and observed, but that is far different then being identified, tracked and logged.

    Just because your actions are 'innocent' and 'I dont have anything to hide' doesnt give anyone the right to investigate you. Its none of their business.

    Oh, and remember i paid my part of that sidewalk too. And we are not talking about a 'dumb' security camera stuck on a wall here.

    To watch, identify, and track people as they mill around on the side walk minding their own business, commiting no crime. Just cant allow people to live their daily lives anonymously can we.

    Show me what is being deprived? The original holder still has their data and is free to do what they were doing with it before i downloaded it. The original data is not diminished in any way..

    Using the excuse of "potential sales" isn't tangable.

    Now, if i *steal* a cdrom from the store, the original is now gone and there is a tangable identifiable loss.

    While both may be illegal, they are NOT the same thing.

    So if its neither, such as a discussion about how bad your car is, or some technical discussion about evolution, then its not protected online.

    Oh, and they always have a choice. They can restrict our rights as much as they want in law. Then its up to us to take them to court to prove they have overstepped their bounds and have the law tossed. On our dime.

    The ASP idea failed the first 1000 times it was tried. I dont think its going to make it this time either, even if technology has finally caught up with the idea.

    Who around here wants to lease their applications and be denied access to their data if they keep paying each month? Not I for one.

    Which in reality, for a security agency, would be a risk in the first place. This isnt some burger joint, here risks matter.

    No one is saying the FBI are idiots, and have no email. Or dont know how to use it. Just that they dont yet have external email. Not a big deal.
