  1. Multiple Markets on Sony Already Lost Media War to Apple? · · Score: 1

Sony is much larger then personal music players.. They make TV, Stereos, media ... tons more stuff then apple can even dream of..

But, i agree the 'PM" market, apple has that pretty much sewn up for the next decade or so, until the next 'really cool thing' comes along.

  2. tiered internet on Slashback: Enigma, Google, Java Games · · Score: 1

Sure, why not. Kill it off completely. with all the garbage/spam/phishing/commercials the internet is barely worth the trouble as it is now. Convert it back to a pay as you go ( like the old days, when it was almost unheard of outside of the miltary and higher education ) and kill it.

Patriot act? Dont even get me started on that powergrab farce.

Unless a law is passed and its declared illegal, they have the right to do what they want with their products and their partners.

No law says you have to give non partners the same treatment that you give business partners ( unless you are declared a monopoly, then the rules change )

Amd should be counter sued for brining up a frivolous lawsuit like this because they are jealous.

As far as im concerned, good riddens. Perhaps we will see less spam now.

  10. Long Winded but right on Breaking Down Barriers to Linux Desktop Adoption · · Score: 1

Ive been trying to sell linux/bsd to non techies for a while and am about ready to give it up.

Telling them abstract things like ' its more efficent ', 'its cheaper', 'not feeding the beast' bla bla bla doesnt really matter to the average guy beyond a passing 'oh, thats cool.. where is the start menu.. oh, thats interesting.. now i want to play my xyz game, can you make it go back to windows, for me. '

sure, it makes more sence for most of us here, ( and in the datacenter ) but for the average joe, he would actually be worse off.

2 - Some of the facts may not have turned out to be as reliable as was first thought, but there was no where near 'insufficient' cause for any invasion in recent history. In this case you sound blind to reality to me.

Either way, take your garbage elsewhere, it doesnt hold water here.

What you propose is also illegal. And really doesnt prove it was 'just marketing'..

If you replace a bunch of libraries, you are in effect changing the structure of the OS.. i do agree they are rather similar, but they did come from the same source tree so its not suprising you can rip out worksation components and install server features at will....

In thoery, if you change enough libraries you can 'turn' NT4 into 2003.. but is it really NT4 when you are done? No, of course not its 2003..

Most laws can be broke rather easily. And when you get caught you goto prison forever.

A national database of MAC addresses that trace back to purcahsers would be put into place, with insane prison terms tied back to 'natiional security reasons'. That will stop most citizens from trying it. Hardcore criminals dont care either way, but laws were never written for them anyway.
