  1. Ouch on TiVo Plans RFID-Aware PVR · · Score: 1

That would hurt having the tag implanted in your forhead.

The back of the neck would be better.

  2. Of course RIAA supports Sony's root kit on President of RIAA Says Sony-BMG Did Nothing Wrong · · Score: 1

Remember they were behind the insane concept spewed by that senator a while back where they wanted the right to remotely destroy your PC, at their whim..

Having a rooted PC everywhere pretty much would give it to them.

  3. The Truly Gifted Ones on The Prodigy Puzzle · · Score: 1

Have already been taken by 'The Centre' for research.

  4. Dont have to be exact copies. on Harnessing the Power of P2P, Looking Back · · Score: 1

Even if that argument were to gain traction, ( I do happen to agree with you on that one ) there is still the issue of 'unauthorized performances', which is also part of copyright law.

It can bite you even if you played all the instruments yourself, and had nothing to do with 'copying'. Remember they are licensing content for 'private performances', not the medium/encoding formats.

  5. Re:Bye Bye Itunes on Apple iTunes to End Flat Fee Pricing? · · Score: 1

Steve Jobs always wants to appear to be the good guy, but behind your back he does the most stupidest of things, in the name of raw profit.

  6. God no.. on The Prisoner To Be Remade On U.K. TV · · Score: 1

Why do they have to go out and ruin yet another classic?

This pattern of systematically destroying our classic shows/books has got to stop.

Time for a protest.. The Prisoner is sacred ground.

  7. Re:Your signature is incorrect. on Getting All 1,700 Parts of the Xbox 360 to Market · · Score: 0, Offtopic

    You are correct of course...

Too bad people see it referenced that way in the movies so its 'true', you are fighting a losing battle.

  8. Short Answer: NO on Would You Use Ad-Supported Windows? · · Score: 1

We have enough ads bombarding us as it is.. We dont need anymore.

  9. Re:Bye Bye Itunes on Apple iTunes to End Flat Fee Pricing? · · Score: 1

Given his track record over the years, its pretty safe to assume otherwise, until he makes a statement.

  10. Bye Bye Itunes on Apple iTunes to End Flat Fee Pricing? · · Score: 2, Interesting

This will only serve to increase market share of those services where for a flat monthly fee, you get to download what ever you want.

Bad move Apple. Steve Jobs must be calling the shots again.

  11. Who needs privacy? on UK To Passively Monitor Every Vehicle · · Score: 1

Hey, who needs privacy if it might catch a criminal.

You dont have anything to hide do you?

  12. Tablet? on Linux Tablet to be Released in Two Days · · Score: 1

Looks more like a large PDA to me, comparing it to the pen in the picture.

For the price, with those features it looks nice, but its no 'tablet'.

  13. Telsa's Employment on Data Centers And DC Power · · Score: 1

According to a couple of books I have read, at one point Tesla was on westinghouse's payroll.

He also received free power for a while, until westinghouse got tired of Tesla blowing up his generators and cut him off.

The books could have been wrong, ( admittedly there is a lot of 'legend' out there on him and few hard facts ) but thats what I'm basing my statement off of.

  14. Why? on Cray Supercomputers to be Based on AMD Opterons · · Score: 1

Are there not much better chips out there? ( like PPC, MIPS, SPARC, totally custom ASIC's.....)

I guess being a commodity chip helps for supply issues, but when you are building machines that are this expensive, is that really a deciding factor?

  15. Criminal Enabler on MP3 Player Shoppers Guide · · Score: 1

Best watch how you pay for those shiny new MP3 players, as the government may come knocking on your door after the holidays to verify you arent doing anything illegal. "You purchased one of these devices, so we have just cause to search"

Remember, only pirates own mp3 players..

  16. Looks like? on Stiffer Penalties for Copyright Violations · · Score: 1

No, it doesnt 'look like it'.. It really is how it works.

This is how our political system works now.

  17. This is nuts on Stiffer Penalties for Copyright Violations · · Score: 1

1 - Copyright violations should be a civil issue, not criminal ( yes, i know its been made criminal now, but not my point )

2 - Dont we have better things to do with our police forces? Last i heard violent crime was going up, we are still at war, etc. I really think our safety is worth a bit more then some silly copy of a cd..

  18. Music Avoidance Meter on Software Predicts Music Success · · Score: 1

  20. Just one more step away. on Google Searches Used in Murder Trial? · · Score: 1

From implementing some form of 'thought police'.

Just look for patterns in search habits, then go collect the offenders for questioning.

  21. Dont understand copyright do we? on The Place Of Modern MIDI Music? · · Score: 1

The combination of 'notes' and 'words' are copyrighted, along with the actual performance of the 'music'.

Ever seen a book with sheet music in it?

  22. Be afraid on Microsoft Reports OSS Unix Beats Windows XP · · Score: 1

Something smells fishy here. Im sure there is an angle they are working on that we dont know yet.

Microsoft admits nothing. Why start now?

  23. Re:See, I told you so on Data Centers And DC Power · · Score: 2, Interesting

But westinghouse did believe in it .. who then gave Tesla a job.

But later on he screwed Tesla anyway.

Though admittedly, Nikola was not much of a businessman, which is why while he was perhaps the most brilliant scientist to ever exist on this planet, he died virtually pennyless.

  24. Nothing New on Quantum Computing Regulation Already? · · Score: 1

There have been restrictions like this on exports for at least a generation.

They are just trying to stay ahead of the curve this time, instead of after the horse has left the barn.
