Counting those as a 'sale' isnt really fair, as once you are trapped by the MOLP agreement, you are pretty much forced to upgrade and its rather costly ( in practical terms ) not to continue with the agreement, and its restrictions.
When the rest of the 'food chain' below her benefits, who cares if the one at the top, with more then they need anyway, misses out on a few potential sales.
Remember, *nothing* was stolen during the p2p transaction, so she didnt actually *lose* anything, it is only a reduction in the vague concept of 'potential' ( i.e. unprovable ) sales.
If they do use vague keywords that interfeer with legal distribution, i would be willing to bet that would be grounds for the 'oppressed' artists to counter sue.
The effects if allowed to continue would be almost the same as a monopoly abusing its power, in a twisted sort of way.
Remember, Microsoft was around *before* the 'IBM/dos' deal where Gary got screwed and Bill made out like a bandit. Before that, they were not 'evil', just a struggling little software company.
But, i agree that once they tasted IBM's money on the DOS deal, there was no turning back and things 'changed'. From then on, they can safely be referred to as evil.
That is splitting hairs, of course anyone can do something illegal/wrong until they get caught. I'm speaking of "right and wrong" when i say they cant.
And i do agree that free speech extends beyond the basics of criticizing government, but there are limits to what is 'protected speech'. I happen to think porn does not qualify. Porn is a product, not a 'speech'. ( not saying it should be banned or not, just that it shouldnt be protected under the concept of free speech )
This is corporate entity who isnt a monopoly, so it well within their rights to do this.
Once you talk about government censoring free speech ( its debateable if porn falls under that category in the first place ) then we an issue to discuss.
However, even with your example, China is an sovereign country. It has a right to declare a type of questionable speech illegal if they wish, as long as it doesnt deprive people of basic human rights in the process.
You run linux and not buy any games..
Remember they are gambling on game sales to make a profit on these things.
Just as apple drops the PPC, Microsoft starts using it?
Not having seen one, ( nor will i buy one ), but i would imagine that a set of LARGE rubber feet would raise it enough to get some air flow..
Oh, and keep it out of the carpet..

Dont you mean "suck dry"?
I was being sarcastic..
Just ban them all.
They are evil, and have no redeeming social value.
No one needs to play a 'video game'. No reason for them to exist, except to corrupt the mind.
After we ban Science, lets ban math, then music.
Hell, lets just ban all information from 'the net', so that 'the society' can meter out knowledge to those that it feels worthy.
An IT company can take the risk, they understand what is going on, and often so do their customers.
Now take a non IT company, and its a big risk and they often do stay quiet.
Since they are all technically test versions for the 'real' RH product, the quick pace is expected.
Think of these as public betas between official releases.
How can a failure really be considered a 'busted myth'? It only shows that it didnt work for you, at that moment.
90% of the "failures" actually appear to be possible under a different situation.
Still, its an entertaining show.
He will just find a job at a company that has a different concept of morality.
He's prolly got 10 offers already.
Morality is relative anyway, and often gets in the way of progress.
Ummm I've seen electric on demand units too. Oh, and there are gas tank heaters too, not just electric.

You have a short memory.
Either that or you were not around back in the old days when you were lucky to have a keyboard on your Altair.
What flavor you choose is less important. At this point in time most unix flavor can be made into what your company needs.
If they cant do that, then your IT department has no business making a change yet.
Does anyone remember when Microsoft was the underdog that most people rooted for? And IBM was the evil one..
Times do change, and i agree that at somepoint Google will be the evil one.

Short of getting them their own modem, use ipcop and setup 2 subnets.
It wont be perfect since a lot of viruses dont care about subnets, but the next best thing if you cant swing a 2nd connection.
Setup a local IMAP server at home. Have a local POP client collect your mail for you at the house, then VPN or SSH+port forward back home to read it.
If you use windows, Mercury32 works great. If you use *nix, there are TONS of options.
Almost as bad as being in VM hell, are these re-occuring stories that pop up every few months.
When it comes to the legal 'industry' they are IN it.. Not just being bribed.
Thats the beauty of being an attorney, the more stupid laws like this, the more money to go around.
And remember, you get paid even if you lose.
