    The core is all open, so all that would happen is someone else would step up to the plate.

    It might ruffle some feathers and slow the corporate Linux world down for a few months, but in the end no real damage.

    Most people that complain are ones that are trying to download large files and expect it to be like some other unsafe p2p setup.

    For what it was designed for ( mostly text pages with a splash of graphics ) it works.. Is it fast? No of course not.. But if you stick to the fundamentals its not *that* slow either..

    Only a browser interface? There is an 'application port', and there are applications written for it. ( such as frost )

    Java bloat? No worse then other languages that try to be *universal*. Besides, don't like java? Then recode it in something else and quit bitching.

    Slow? Depends on what you are doing. Are you trying to download files? Well it really wasn't designed for that. And there will be a tradeoff on speed/anonymity.

    Searches? Umm there are several search engines available if you look.

    While it wont get around using a 'compromised' machine, on a safe machine using freenet would let you post ( and read ) safely.

    its still not *proven* until it goes to court. Until then its just people *accepting* it.

    Personally I don't accept any restrictions. If I see code, its mine to do with as I please. Don't want me to do that? Then don't let me see the code.

    I tend to agree, who has been sued and lost ?

    Several have settled at the threat of suit.. but who has actually gone and lost ( or won ).

    Much as the RIAA P2P user suits. its all a bunch of hot air to get one to settle. Once it gets to court, all the air wil be let out.

    Use the code. its been released.. if the writers dont like the virual nature of GPL that *forces* them to show the world and take the risk, then dont cry when someone uses it.

    Sure.. mod me down since i said bad things about the GPL. you cant supress the truth forever.
