    Is there an upper limit on the 'paraphrasing' allowances in current copyright law?

    Lets say you download 100%, but only share 50% of the pieces back out..

    Is that enough to be called infringing? 75%? 25%?

    Just an idea.

    On my Panther install its in the 'desktop sharing' area of the system settings. Its one of the options ( i dont have it with me to give you exact details )

    Its there.. It works.. I heard it was included with Jaguar too.

    The using 3rd party 'share my desktop' applet helps configure things, but its not required.

    Yes.. but Monopolies that have a firm grip on the market dont change fast, and tend to dominate and manipulate 'tech changes' in the long run.

    The status of the rest of the world's consumer electronics dont concern me in the least.

    Though, that said, they should not be allowed to *waste* resources either.

    You dont *need* fiber at your house either. You may *want* it, but you dont need it.

    As an aside, it sounds like you need to watch your mouth, and clean up your vocabulary. That is if you ever want to grow up enough to move out of your mommys basement.

    This may end up being the most profitable opening night in history, but i bet you they will still bitch that a few people downloaded a copy that STILL went to the show.

    Some go BEACUSE they saw it on a download first. They dont want to waste money watching a bad show.

    But then again, thats their plan, make you pay up with no chance of a refund even if the movie is terrible. With no chance of a 'preview'.

    The key word is "less", as your isp would have no troubles tracking you, and reporting you to the 'piracy agency' as they are required to.

    Once this becomes law of course.. Its not a requirment to report. Yet.

    But the people dont care.

    They want to be hidden as well. Doesnt matter what the 'products' goals is, the 'consumers' want this feature.

    Until BT provides this, expect the 'consumers' to continue to complain.

    Even if it kills the entire VoIP industry as analog POTS, run by the orginal Bell System, are good enough for anyone.

    Lets see last ad i saw specifcally said 'phone company' on it. Not 'commications company'..

    When the consumer hears 'phone company' they should expect a certian level of safety/performance.

    Seems to me they should be required to follow the same rules or be shut down totally. Or stop telling people they are A ( not THE ) phone company.

    If they cant be required as you say, then change the laws to make them responsible.

    Jaguar has VNC built into the system, you just have to enable it. Pretty painless to 'remote into'.

    The Newton failed due to 2 reasons:

    1 - was over priced.
    2 - was poorly marketed.

    Neither of these were technology related.

    And just as the price was about to be dropped and the market that they created was about to explode, Steve Jobs came back and killed the project.

    Apparently you have never owned a Newt and are either an idiot or just don't like apple in general.

    Doesnt matter, i think you know what im talking about.

    The OS that the PDA runs that comes from palm.

    What ever you call it or where ever it comes from, i dont like it and want to know about the alternatives.

    No, im serious. I have never been fond of palm OS, but they do normally make decent hardware.

    Some of the older models do run other OS's, and putting something like opie on it would be nice.

    My car doesnt have one. Except for the stereo.

    The closest thing i have to a processor that is actually part of the car is the voltage regulator. ( and its not really doing any processing )

    Sure, real cars break. But at least then its something that is BROKE, not just some fubar code that you cant get to without the dealears blessing.

    Java had to be installed at some point, at some 30mb or more. It dosent come 'default' for windows machines. ( even my Mac, it had to be totally updated so it might as well not have been installed )

    Python can be installed just as easily, at a lot lower size. ( or whatever else would be chosen ).

    Dont misunderstand, java is nice and has its place, but i tend to agree with many others it has NO place in *free* software.
