On a personal note i prefer the simple touch nook over kindle due to native ePub support. And the hardware just 'feels' better. ( yes, that's an abstract opinion )
Now, if they can come out with color.. And get rid of the gloworm version of the simple touch..
Really, if they don't want to preform their duties, get rid of them. There are other people that would gladly do their part to advance scientific research and not whine about it.
They need to grow up and stop being babies, what 'working conditions' did they expect being stuck on the top of a mountain i the middle of nowhere?
Ummm if you haven't noticed blender is opensource, it came from being closed source where it sat languishing until the community ( me included ) bought the source and its development/use exploded.
Openness is NOT the problem here. Marketing however, is.
This old model will slowly come back. Since software these days does everything you want, why buy upgrades? Going to get worse as things move towards cloud hosting and not local installs.
So often 'new features' are just rehash of old features or just marketing.
It may not be millions ( or could be ) but it will still be worth the change to be rid of the upgrade cost next year, and the year after.... Also training is a one time cost.
I trust them with my unimportant data as its not important if its seen like a book i purchased or a movie ( its still wrong of course ). I also trust them to house my pre-encrypted data, where i hold the key.
It depends. The last job i was let go from i was given 2 weeks notice + a 2 month severance. I wasn't mis-behaving, they just had to cut their budget and outsourced. No hard feelings in either direction.
Looks terrible in the store.. You telling me its not bad in the flesh?
Competition is good.

They have to keep the cash cow going somehow.
Paranoid much? They only make copies of the data to process off-line, they don't insert themselves into the data stream to do it in real time.
Do they have the same protection up there as we do down here in the US?

A person is much more than their DNA. This new version will grow up in a different world and be a different person.
And that is all part of the plan. Freedom is outdated, haven't you heard?
If no one's willing to stand up and be recognized for what they say,
Many do not stand up out of fear. Fear of retribution for their expression.
Well, as a company its their right, but if they believe this way they truly don't comprehend the concept of free speech.
I was thinking in terms of jails, not VMs in the traditional sense. My fault for not being clear.
Sounds like little VMs on a bare bones OS to me. Nothing new here and yet another rehash.
Are owned by the people. Unless sealed they are public domain.
Everyone print a copy and mail it to Comcast, COD.
Is it void if the the party dies? If so, yahoo is in the legal right to do so ( tho uncool ).
Most often contracts do terminate in some fashion, when the parties terminate.
It's quite clear it no longer applies here. Unless your speech is 'state approved', better watch your back.

You can have my 'gift', i prefer not to age thank you very much.
its not Debian's problem, its the Mozilla foundation's problem.
And iceweasel is the same code, with another ( silly ) logo.
Make the e-book of lesser ( or no ) value in many cases.
When do they start doing it with purchased books?
Many criminals are hard working too.

Are hard to repair. If you stay in the same city, you will find out really quick how small it really is.
They are considered disposable and if you can make it until the next upgrade cycle/treadmill they don't care.
For those of us who actually buy our phone outright, it sucks.
