do you think that, if they can prove that these machines "STOP TERRORISM!!!", that they won't eventuall force everyone to go through them? this is only the beginning, my friend..

I don't care.. Just don't ask me to take off my fucking jacket and shoes..

well sure you don't, because we all know how many heads you turn as you're walking through a crowd. we can see all the women that ogle you shamelessly, and end up running into something because they're too busy staring at your sexy, hairy ass.

tell me, when have you ever been in a public place as an attractive woman walked by, and every guy in the room didn't turn to look?

seriously, what about the women that have to suffer through this? you might not care if some random guy sees you (mostly) naked, but my fiance sure as hell does. and I'm as pissed as she is about the possibility.

it obviously doesn't bother you that some high school dropout slimebag gets to see your hairy ass on the big screen. but how would you feel if he was looking at your sister or wife or mother? you can't honestly tell me you'd sacrifice them up to this to save you a little hassle of taking off you jacket..

  8. all too true on What Will We Do With Innocent People's DNA? · · Score: 1

In California, police will be able in 2008 to take DNA samples from anyone arrested for a felony, whether the person is convicted or not, under a law approved by voters in November.

I'm a resident of California, and I voted against this measure for exactly that reason: they provide no way to remove innocent people's DNA from their database.

of course, the way the supporters described it in their propaganda pamphlet was "if you vote against this, we'll have murderers and child molesters running the streets! if you love your children, you'll vote YES!!"

I consider this a case of the general public not being educated enough of the facts to make an informed decision. it's all well and good, until it happens to you..

  10. Re:Huh? on iPod Most Popular Music Player on Microsoft Campus · · Score: 1

    Why is this particularly interesting?

you're forgetting that employees owning iPods implicitly means employees using iTunes. and you can assume that if they have an iPod and use iTunes, they're most likely buying songs from the ITMS as well.

this means that MS employees are:
    a) using a piece of hardware that MS doesn't support, which competes with hardware that it does
    b) using software that is in direct competition with MS products
    c) constantly spending money in a store that directly competes with an MS store

man, that's got to be a mighty large kick in the nuts for them..

Funny, Microsoft gets attacked at slashdot for taking too long to patch an issue, and Apple gets a free pass for ignoring them?

you're statement is a bit misleading - Apple doesn't ignore security holes, they fix them quickly and quietly before anybody realizes where they are. that's a BIG difference.

  15. Re:Steve Jobs as CEO can redefine "necessary" on Pixar Switches to Mac OS X and G5s · · Score: 1

make no doubt about it: if this wasn't the best choice, there's no way Pixar would go through with it.

to imply that Steve simply wanted Pixar to switch to Macs just to support Apple is absurd. there's no way the rest of the company would have supported this decision if they thought Pixar would be worse off for it. Pixar is the best at what it does, and in no way would jeopardize that just so they can use Macs.

the fact is that Apple has finally got to the point where they offer the best solution for the task at hand.

  16. Re:Rather than muffling it... on Quieting Your G5? · · Score: 1

he's right, you know. setting your processor performance to 'Reduced' will greatly lower the power requirements, heat generation, and subsequently, the fan noise (especially on the G5). and when you need the extra power again, just go back in and put it on 'Highest' (or 'Automatic', if that's what you prefer).
