Most of the net traffic, particularly across the atlantic travels on under-sea cables. Satellites are ususally used for remote areas or backup comnunications, due to latency and bandwidth issues.

Theres no reason to run Windows as an Administrator except in unique circumstances. I still dont understand why people run as an administrator.
Many Adobe programs have major issues with their printing when not running as Administrator. Wierd stuff happens periodically. Switch to administrator and everything's fine again.
Or try doing Windows Development on a box without being Administrator. Painful.
has anyone else wondered what it would be like to take landfills, package them in rockets, shoot them to the sun and see what happens or am I the only one who has strange dreams like that.
I'm sure others have had strange dreams, but getting something to hit the sun (taking it out of solar orbit) takes an insane about of energy. There is no simple "just shoot it to the sun" and let gravity take over scenario.
An interesting thing I read in a paper on this subject, was that after a year or so of strengthening the cable, you could lift a second ribbon for another space elevator, etc....
This would significantly reduce the appeal for attack that a single space elevator would have.
Depending on the organizations needs they can more than likely block all outgoing UDP. By doing this they can help slow the spread of worms (such as this one) and reduce liability when it comes to crackers using their systems as a point to attack other systems.
Don't do this blindly... All of a sudden everything goes down and slowly three letters form in your mind:
Yes, do it yourself, but it's just a bit more complicated than that. A kaleidoscope has two mirrors in it. And the broken glass or colored stuff is held between two translucent coverings at the other end.

All the Colo's I've hosted at have had monitors (along with keyboard/mouse) on wheels, which you pull it over to your rack and plug it in.
I'm suprised your provider doesn't have something similar.

I hope that was a troll. But just for the record, it's platypuses.

The earth's atmosphere is roughly 1 part per 1000 carbon dioxide (0.1% or so). So apparently you can stand a good deal more.
Ha ha! What's with the moderators today? Ummm, can you say "troll"?
Where are you getting your (dis)information? Provide links or don't start rumors.

... dump core when you have a nervous break down. Won't shrinks love that.
OTOH, because of the high phone costs, dial up access to the internet in Japan is insanely expensive. An impediment to getting online for many people.
