If anything, this is another good case for a Basic Income.
A basic income is flawed. The concept of money for nothing, song jokes aside, rots people. If nothing at all is required from people many give back exactly nothing. I know too many people who live off no strings attached money, be it disability / child support (yes there's no requirement it be actually spent on the children) / alimony. They are a complete waste. They don't volunteer, don't produce anything. Nothing of any value society at large. Instead they watch tv, play video games, or go out to eat with other loser friends. I love ideas that support workers like a sales tax on stock sales with the proceeds evenly split between all workers. However I will never support money for nothing because I don't like dead beats who spend their whole lives taking and never giving anything in return. That practice should be reduced, not encouraged.
Also, about the title, drones don't kill people. Some force did, or some guy behind the controls, but the drone itself, no matter how autonomous it might be, doesn't kill people.
Fascinating article. I've always been against section 8 because I hate giving people something for nothing - it erodes work ethic and isn't fair to those of us who do go to work everyday. However I didn't realize just how sinister the effects if it were. I'd mod you up but alas I already commented in this thread. Even so great article - thank you
Of course not, I blame the government for not keeping them out. Look at Switzerland - you can have a middle class with a social network or you can have massive immigration. You can't have both.
Whatever one party comes out with, the other party has to approximately match. Think of it as weight class in sports. That keeps it at least mildly competitive. Hillary has a lot of baggage so the Republicans now must choose someone in the same weight class, which means a candidate as detestable as Hillary. Then the public can complain about how bad the candidates are but at least there candidate is not as bad as the other.
Personally I'm hoping that we see Bush III vs Clinton II, only so the public can see how silly and corrupt the whole thing is.
I suppose the ones who are already there are safe because if she starts firing, say, white men, she's going to eventually have a nasty lawsuit to deal with.
My observation is that unless said white males are either gay or Jewish there's no hope for them to ever win a discrimination lawsuit.
Who cares. If it can drive for six months out of the year that's still an improvement. Moreover you should see a decrease in accidents for those 6 months. It isn't wise to initially shoot for 100% coverage over all conditions. It's much smarter to cherry pick just the sunny days with no snow/ice.
I wish I had mod points to mod you up. I uninstalled Mozilla / Firefox when they decided that donating to a "non-politically correct" cause years ago was grounds for being pushed out despite said individual having contributed so much. I just can't get behind any organization that does that, even one I had formerly liked as much as Mozilla. I really don't care what your stance is on about any topic, to get pushed out because of it is wrong if your work is quality. Employees are there for their contributions, not their political opinions. Sadly daring to say this might make me the latest target for the SJW Jihad.
I keep hearing that the economy is fixed but the middle class is smaller than ever in recent history and continues to dwindle. This economy is about as fixed as a car that has a working heater in the drivers seat but all other vents are broken leaving little or nothing for the other passengers.
If only he was LBGT then he could join the bandwagon of being a victim of discrimination for someone refusing him some service. That's been all the rage the past few months.
By many measures including inequality, public infrastructure, primarily exporting agriculture, bought and paid for politics, etc the US *is* a third world country
That software attorney has one immutable quality that could and absolutely should have a strong influence on how we regard it. It's not human. While it may be able to formulate expressions of law, prescribe paperwork, and maybe even construct strong arguments based solely upon a cold, mechanical interpretation of case law and legislation, it can not and never will be capable of feeling. If we exact the effect of law while sacrificing our humanity
Are you seriously arguing that lawyers are humans with feelings as regards their profession? You're too funny:-) Based on far more references than I could ever cite they long ago sacrificed their humanity in the name of war on terror / drugs / civil forfeiture / etc. The computers might at least get some of the obvious cases right like the Bill of Rights if we're being more serious or this case that the humans missed if we're looking for obvious mistakes:

Two wrongs don't make a right. The goal is not to argue that Democrat is worse than Republican (or vise versa). If you're still arguing who is the lesser of two evils you have fallen for the ruse. Be smarter than that. Both parties are bad, neither party will help / improve things / save us. The only options are 3rd party or, more likely over time, some flavor of revolution. Citizens United all but guaranteed that simple voting won't be the answer.
Oddly enough yes. Don't believe me, check with the family court system and see the lopsided numbers and seemingly infinite stories of how bad a deal a dad gets.
The reality is that both posts are correct. The 1% cheats the system and should be dealt with as well as welfare dead beats that drain the system. The sooner we get past arguing which is worse and instead try and be rid of both parasites the better off we'll be. The middle class is getting a raw deal from both the 1% and the non-working poor.
rather just some sort of justification for your irrational bigotry and hatred.
Resorting to name calling is essentially admitting that he's got a point you can't refute but don't like. I certainly didn't detect hatred. You mad bro?
I'm not sure that's true. I've known too many people who were content doing absolutely nothing. They tend to be the disability types, always long on excuses and short on anything useful. Making people work for their wages makes sense. That's why I support a universal bonus income for people who work (coupled with a minimum wage to make sure that the bonus doesn't become a new way for the 0.1% to screw over the rest of us). The other half of making work people work is always having something for them to do. That's why I support the notion of work centers where people can show up and work is always available. It's the answer to the situation of telling someone to get a job when jobs aren't available.
If anything, this is another good case for a Basic Income.

So you have innovative straps and also adds ons. We'll call it the iStrapOn
Never traveling to Pakistan seems like a reasonable move. I'd place it along side avoiding gang ridden neighborhoods and other acts of common sense.

yet, give it time

Unless sufficient bribes are paid in the 2016 election cycle
This is America after all.
Sadly these days America is usually in the short bus ;-)

Vote third party or don't bother.

You started talking about efficiency. There are exist much simpler solutions: 1) Take a bus. (one driver drive several passengers)
Clearly time is not a factor in your efficiency calculation

btw, the economy was fixed under obama

There can be more than one villian ;-)

With modern medicine, infection risk might be abated by antibiotics/antiseptics.
Not for long with the current over usage of antibiotics.

Yes, hence my contention that that is not "education", but "indoctrination".
To be fair you see a lot of that on both right and left. Very little critical thinking desired by the powers that be, on either end of the spectrum.
