OS/X is written in Objective-C and hence it can just pass around handles to objects, that can be cloned, etc...
That's a bit of an exaggeration. OS X uses Objective-C in many of its frameworks. Those apps that use Cocoa or Carbon can exchange data via the system pasteboard, which is used for drag and drop. Data on the pasteboard isn't necessarily an Objective-C object.
You're confusing improvements in mechanization and understanding of chemistry with cost cutting engineered chemical additives to food whose long term effects are unknown.
How could you claim that I'm confusing these, when I didn't mention them in my question?
history has shown corporate power is abused often.
To be precise, what history shows is that government power is routinely abused, and that in the last couple of centuries, it's often been corporations that were pulling the government's strings.
Technology in ALL AREAS of food production has made our society what it is today. Ignoring that fact just makes you look like a moron.
Ah, but it's fashionable to bemoan the things that make our standard of living possible, such as technology, the market economy (what's left of it), and personal responsibility.
As satisfying as it might be to watch the ignorant bastards freeze in the dark, the fact is that the factors I mentioned above benefit society as a whole, whether any individual deserves those benefits or not.
- a quick glance at history (eg. DDT, thalidomide, cane toads, etc) suggests that a bit of caution and prudence might be in order.
Taking the same glance at history, I can pull up examples like penicillin, insulin, and adrenalin and suggest that foot-dragging costs lives that can be saved.
Whether any given chemical is "organic" or not has nothing to do with its toxicity. Some of the most deadly compounds we know of are the result of natural selection.
in my opinion - that in the area of food, technological advancements are either scams or used to sell us processed cheap shit.
Around the turn of the last century, we needed about 80% of the US population working on farms to feed us all. Today, it's more like 4%, and we're the world's biggest food exporter. What do you think made that possible?
From a quick glance at the history of podcasting, it looks like Curry was an early podcaster, but not the actually originator of the habit. In any event, it looks like a patent application filed in 2003 loses.
Funny, because you keep repeating the same thing over and over, ignoring the points I've made
It seems that you can't tell the difference between making a point and introducing an irrelevancy.
Ignorance is bliss I guess... and you should know.
I have no way of knowing whether you're happy. I suspect not, since your grasp of reality is limited, which would necessarily limit your ability to succeed in life.
Better energy technology will be developed (without government help), not because greenies want it, but because it's profitable to it's inventors.
Exactly. Just like the electric light.
Personally, I'd like to be off the grid, not because of any tree-hugging inclination on my part, but just because PG&E is a lousy vendor. If my power goes out, I want to be able to go get my toolbox and turn it back on, instead of waiting for the utility company to show up and splice a transmission line.
There are many reasons to migrate from fossil fuels, the most compelling being that they're going to run out very soon
It's just a matter of where the price curves cross. If oil and coal really are running out, their prices will rise, and other energy sources will be more cost-effective. We're not there yet.
I want to know why judges are disallowing defenses at all, and what the constitutional basis is for doing so. The Jury's not there to do the judge's bidding, they're there to hear what the two sides have to say, and come to their own conclusions.
Keith Henson never got to argue that copying an L. Ron Hubbard screed to show it to law enforcement officials was fair use.
Sorry, this isn't "news for nerds', and it's definitely not "stuff that matters'.

Translation
Try looking up what "translation" means. Hint: it's not a magic word that rationalizes whatever nonsense you decide to pull out of your ass.
bash heads, grab loot from all weaker then Jcr
Project much?
The free market is a system of voluntary exchange. Bashing heads and grabbing loot is what governments do.

True, but I was talking about the net. We export more food than anyone else, vastly more than we import.

I'm afraid you're wrong.
This is your lucky day! You can your fears to rest, because I'm right.
Please, like so many others, do some reading.
That's advice you would do well to follow.

Everything else you list gives insignificant increases in output by comparison.
Guess again.

Whether any given chemical is "organic" or not has nothing to do with its toxicity. Some of the most deadly compounds we know of are the result of natural selection.
-jcr
And you will create more impact on the environment.
Nope. Organic methods are far less productive per acre. If we gave up modern chemical fertilizers, we'd have to clear a lot more land for farming.
-jcr
These organic pesticides are pretty widely used.

You mean, pseudoscience isn't nutritious? Who would have guessed?
-jcr
You mean when did I stop being awed by surfaces of shiny objects and learnt to look beyond their superficiality?
No, I mean when did you start to believe that verbiosity is a substitute for having something worthwhile to say?
-jcr
Yeah, it'd suck selling 10x the number of computers than the Apple store did.
If you could do that, then you'd be the god of computer retailing. Look up the business press about the performance of the Apple stores.

I'm sorry...can you rephrase that in the form of a car analogy?
I have a patent on car analogies, you insensitive clod!

Working at the Microsoft store in a mall where there's an Apple store would be a painful experience.

Ok, so when challenged, you simply repeat the claim. Tell me, in your social circles, is that accepted as a substitute for substantiation?
