Both of the Total Recall films left out a very important element from the story (thereby changing the entire tone of the story arc). Minority Report has a similar change of ending. Paychek suffers from the loss of a major thematic element also changing the tone. Next was a hollowed out shell, maintaining only the title, protagonist's name and ability.
I don't think Hollywood is brave enough to make faithful adaptations, because they are worried about profits.
On the other hand, because the executives involved were the CFO, president of U.S. information solutions, and president of workforce solutions, this looks suspect. You would think the president of U.S. information solutions would have been informed of the breach immediately.
Going to the funeral does much to comfort the family, in addition to showing respect for the deceased.
