working on.. Sysadmin we have 24 Orgin 2000's, 6 Chall.XL's, and 2 E4500's. They are all running one application for different companies. I can't say what it does:)
No cigs here either, gotta go outside, and that sucks cuz there's 38 floors in this building.. good for me that I'm on the 5th.
City, Tampa in the tall building downtown with the Blue and White GTE logos on the side:)
..Your mother's so fat, that when she "hauls ass" she has to make two trips"
Duh, I was just kidding dude:) It was supposed to be funny. You know the whole.. take RedHat now it's ours.. only it's really better.
Don't be sooo serious dude.. It's just a message board, we are not debating for World Peace:)
On another note, I do appreciate the note that you saw a huge difference on your AMD box. I have a AMD and PII box, I put Mandrake on the PII and didn't see a noticeable difference. I still have the ISO burnt, so I will throw it on my AMD box and test it out. Thanks:)
You've got to be kidding? It's like 2am.. You have got to have NO LIFE AT ALL.. to be sitting around just to await a new article on/. Just so you can post Linux suX... hahahahaha... This is cracking me up... I needed a laugh, just when I thought I was getting bummed here at work I found a total loser to lift my spirits...
hahaha... sorry.. it's late and it is now tradi- tion that everyone flames the first poster:)
I've used it, it's pentium optimized via BeroLinux (aka PentOpt RedHat). And contains a bunch of Cool Mandrake Logo's.
It also has an auto upgrade package utility via X/KDE (thou if anyone has figured how to get this to work behind a proxy let me know:).
So basically, if RedHat goes the Pentium Optimized route, and adds this nifty utility, Mandrake will have to go back to the drawing board, and come up with something else to add to someone elses distro to make it their own:)
Also, is DiskDrake really it's own utility, or is it just DiskDruid renamed?
To believe these guys were voted Best Distro... shit they should've just handed the award to Bob Young...hahaha... sorry it's late, Im at work and still have 3 hours to go...
Mandrake is ok. I ran it for awhile on a box at home. I didn't see any noticable performance increases for being pentium optimized, and I couldn't get the AutoUpdate utility to work, so I deleted the partition, and made it my/usr filesys for my redhat install.
I was think of downloading, replacing all the Linux-Mandrake Logo's with my own. Burn some CD's, call it Linux-Raster, and then see if MacMillian will package and sell it for $21.95 at CompUSA...
You think I could win Best Linux Distro next year at LinuxExpo?
Whatta guys think, anyone wanna make a buck... hahaha..
"I have to laugh almost every day when I read about some new amazing life-changing possibility soon to be brought to us via the web. The other day it was something about controlling your home remotely. The people who are supposedly going to use and benefit? The same bozo's whose VCR clock has been flashing for 7 years... Yeah, Right!"
I don't know much about the show, however I did catch the episode where during a heated argument Abe made some childish statements about how he could infect this girls computer with virii and such.
Question 1: What are your supposed "mad skillz"? or are you just riding this wave of MTV popularity.
Question 2: Did you answer the above qustion honestly?
From what I witnessed on the show, Abe couldn't hack his way out of a brown paper bag. I only wish others could've have witnessed the aforementioned episode.
Who cares about the infighting, and FUD articles..
I use Solaris/Irix at work. I use Linux at home.
Who cares about the.. "DistroX sucks DistroB Rocks". I use what works for me. I am especially sick of the "Linux in the Enterprise" arguements. I love Linux, but try to put it on one of my E4500's and I'll kick your ass:)
I normally never make "moderated" comments, however the above moderated up? I am a Diehard Linux supporter, but if this title, and tone were directed toward Linux it would be a -1 Flamebait.
While I agree this is a little petty, the rest of your statements are poor, and not supported.
People tend to forget that Sun is a Hardware Vendor, Solaris accounts for less than %10 of Sun profits, couple that with the support they must provide, Sun wants to drop it like a rock in the future. If Linux or any OS for that matter, were able to take full advantage of Sun's hardware they would jump ship in a minute. I personally believe they will jump within the next year. Take a look at SGI, SGI just dropped IRIX, why? It's just not paying for itself. SGI was in trouble and just said "Hey, let's concentrate on what can pay the bills, highend Hardware".
Java dead. Where do you work? Here in the telecommunications sector most all client side apps are now written in Java. Maybe that's just here but I know we make quite alot of money selling this "stuff":)
Not likely. Companies that have to please stockholders, and are usually very carefull how they word their vision statements. This gives shareholders an idea of where their money will be invested in the future.
So with the above in mind, a Tech Company must come across as a Leader not a follower, as well as orginal and innovative, within their Vision Statement. MS used poor judgement and failed at all.
NT supporters are just suffering from MicroSoft business practices. Microsoft has in the past posed as "users, admins, and regular joes" to defeat OS/2, they should have left that to their supporters.
Now, we are seeing the effect of those practices. You couldn't praise NT as a user and have anyone take you seriously. Immediately individuals will assume you are from MS. It's quite sad, however don't blame the average joe, blame MS.
hahahahahahahahahahaha...hahahaha..

..sorry.. it's 2:28, got 2.5 hours left in a 12

is an Informix Crash:)
hahahahahahahahahahahaha...
got me on that one:)
"Oh you mean like taking stuff from free software programmers and bundling it up as your own? Doh!"
No I mean like taking RedHat, replacing the logo's
and CALLING it your own.
A distro bundling free software, and acknowledging
those developers.. is a little different.
:)
"but they've done a LOT to really put it together in a solid, useful way"
hahaha.. yea like replacing all of the RedHat logo's with Big Mandrake one's.

"Hey.... if I write an article about changing a tire and put the word Linux in it, will it get posted at Slashdot? "
probably.
I love using Linux, but some of these articles are pathetic.
"I'm still using Windows rather than Linux. Articles like this, filled with half-truths, omissions, and outright lies are what's kept me away..."
So you are saying that you use MicroSoft, because they never resort to "half-truths, omissions, and outright lies".
Please reread your post and maybe you will realize how ignorant it actually was.
As far as your opinions on ESR, I tend to agree. After reading C&B, every other article/paper I read for entertainment only.
1) how many shares are available.
18 million Toys R Us shares at 30, are worth
more than 6 million of RHAT.
2) I put out last week, RHAT would jump 65 - 100,
first couple of days. And then slowly drop off.
RHAT will platueu out sometime Mid-September.
3) Investors usually cash in investments now and reinvest in Fall, watch for everything to start going up again in October.
4) Just check out cnnfn.com and other financial links, the average Joe/Jane can gather so much more information that was once reserved by the few.
:) back to work.
I don't know how much more common of a trademarked word or phrase you can get than ...
"Windows"
:)
