Instead of storing your keypass file directly on the clous drive, have you considered using Cryptomator? (or another similar tool). It creates an encrypted container on your cloud drive where you can store your keypass.db file.
I am sure Keypass crypto is strong but I don't like the idea of storing naked Keypass db files in the cloud. Bad actors are just one password away from the keys to the kingdom. With cryptomator (or similar), they would have to also decrypt the container file before they could even get to keypass db.
Use cryptomator on your cloud of choice (google drive, dropbox, whatever). Cryptomator sets up an encrypted volume on cloud drives, much like Truecrypt and Veracrypt. Now store your keypass.db file in that encrypted volume container instead of nakedly on the cloud drive. Bonus: Cloud drives, Cryptomator, and Keypass are all available on Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android
From a workflow perspective, you enter your cryptomator password to open the encrypted folder and then you will enter your Keypass master password to open Keypass. If you are lazy, you can save the Cryptomator pass so it opens every time and just enter the Keypass password. This is particularly helpful for phones.
Sidenote: I am not affiliated with any of the above. Just a happy user that it all works so nice together -- and across my many devices.
You stated: It's been known for fucking months that US security services were keeping a damned close eye on Russian communications.
I have a question: Who knew? I know lots of people speculated but this stuff is Top Secret. It is not for public consumption by design. So again, who actually knew anything?
Please understand that I know everyone has an opinion of what happened or who was being investigated for what. But only the FISA courts know who is being surveilled in this manner. This type of thing is exactly why FISA was created in the first place. It's purpose was to give accountability to covert surveillance so it isn't used for political purposes or against US citizens without a damn good reason.
The only way the opposition leader of a party (Donald Trump) gets investigated as a Soviet foreign agent - a real one - is if the President himself (Obama) signs off on it. There is no way in hell that investigation goes on without his express permission because of how it looks and the precariousness the situation during the election.
Either the surveillance was rogue or it went through the FISA court and has documentation (like probable cause, etc). If surveillance was rogue, Obama and his administration have a huge problem. And if it was approved and no evidence was found, then why are we still talking about it?
Just handing money to people is the best form of charity. Debatable - at best. However most people who have studied this issue say direct handouts are not the best form of charity.
Duuuuuude.....how much do you charge for your time? Did you consider the cost of your 5-pass erase in your estimate? I ask because CD's are about $.01 a piece and they have machines that can crank them out by the 1000's automatically and with no user interaction.
Unit for unit, on small runs, cassette tape is WAY cheaper than any other medium.
You are wrong. Cassettes are not less expensive than pressing out a stack of CD's. If you aren't seeing that, you should find another outfit to press your CD's.
By every possible measure, CD's accomplish everything cassettes do and they do it better. I, literally, cannot think of one feature that makes cassettes better except that maybe they archive longer because they are magnetic vs optical.
This new narrative is doing nothing more than trying to lay the groundwork for later action. You see, if information can be labeled "fake" - using whatever standard they plan to use - then the next logical step is to put legal limits on the "fake" information.
Ultimate, AM talk radio will be the in the gunsights. The left is PISSED that their usual main stream media tricks and gotchas didn't work this time so instead of changing their message, they want to change the rules of the "news" game.
P.S. It won't work. They blew their wad on Trump and now nobody believes what they say anymore.
The idea that Clinton and Co. would use the agreed-upon process outlined in the Constitution to affect change is naive at best and laughable at worst. Over the last 8 years, the Democratic party (and their media collaborators) have shown the world that the "ends justify the means" and they have no time for building consensus. It's their way or the highway. And with gun-control, doubly-so.
Many of us have no doubt that Clinton and Co would use every part of government to enforce her brand of gun control.
It may be vital but the US Media "establishment" is going to change. If they don't, they will become increasingly irrelevant and out of touch, eventually going out of business (or existing on the margins).
Parent post is right - the media shredded all of the trust they had left when they went in the tank against Trump. They didn't even try to hide it so now they can't claim "we're objective seekers of truth" anymore. Everyone - and I mean everyone - knows the gig is up. Change is a comin'
Don't you get it? The whole government/media democrat machine has been outed and destroyed. Don't be surprised if when you move.....your neighbors don't really want to be friends with you.
For 8 years, lots of good people have had to put up with the worst of Obama/Democrat/Media. That will not be soon forgotten.
Since Slashdot is now pushing sketchy political stories, does that mean they are part of the disgusting relationship between the Democrats and the press? Are they "just another mouthpiece" now? Outlets such as ABC, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, HuffPo.....and others (how many?) have shown - in writing - they are colluding with the Democratic party and its operatives. The Podesta emails show it's one big revolving door and far from being a suspicious press, it has become the mouthpiece of the Democratic party. This is hardly refutable anymore. Read the Podesta emails.
So my question is this: Is Slashdot one of those outlets now? It's not as crazy as it sounds when the chief campaign officer (Podesta) is regularly emailing and meeting with Sheryl Sandberg (Facebook), Mark Zuck (facebook), Eric Schmidt, and many other tech luminaries in order to shape hearts and minds. It appears to be standard operating procedure to plant/trend/or tilt trends, news, or anything that might help the Democrats (or a favored group) get the message out.
Call the police and have the police arrest them -- because growing weed and making meth are illegal regardless of where it's being done (sans marijuana legal states). Obviously, private property rights aren't unlimited but running a drug lab in your home is a far cry from taking a few bucks from tourists for glorified house sitting.
It's clear to me that this is just the rent seekers (hotel owners) trying to keep the competition out (the AirBnB model). It has nothing to do with safety or property rights issues except that the hotel owners have employed their local politicians to help them pass the necessary laws. It's pretty obvious what is going on, no?
In the USA, we have all kinds of "rich" people. We have old money, new money, white collar money, blue collar money, and everything in between. In fact that's the thing that makes America great: anyone from any background has the opportunity to make it big and make themselves (and their families) as rich as they can imagine.
The stereotypes you hear on Slashdot about rich and wealthy people are just that.....stereotypes. IMHO, stereotypes aren't much use in this area because of the distribution of rich and wealth people. They range from selfless altruists to psychopathic narcissists and everything in between so trying to stereotype them into one group is impossible.
Matthew Modine is great in that movie. And it's an excellent movie that captures the thinking of the medical community at the time. People forget, there was a lot of fear about AIDS back then -- from all parts of society, including political (Reagan).
The election is not rigged against the Donald. If anything it has been rigged for him.
Even a 2nd grader can see the bias in the press against Trump. They aren't even trying to hide it anymore.
What is selective about releasing all of Podesta's and HRC's emails? I would understand your argument if we had only seen some carefully curated emails to match some carefully curated narrative but that is not the case here. Instead, the emails themselves are painting the narrative. No intervention required.
Who would have guessed that a free service would be abused? It's almost like there should be a word or saying for that. Oh yea, there is: Tragedy of the Commons
This issue seems to come up a lot, doesn't it?
Please explain. How would TPB be a honeypot? The only files they offer for download are torrent files, which in and of themselves, aren't illegal. So why would the FBI or anyone else make it a honeypot? What would they learn about the users from that?
I am curious why you think single payer operated by the government (or whomever they outsource to) would better.
Would the offering be better than the VA? Medicare? Bureau of Indian Affairs Med System? What would make it different this time around when the government gets involved? I ask because anyone who actually has to participated in those systems knows they suck all over the place. Even the governments own reports say they suck so what would make it different next time around?

Neither did Tim Geitner.....and he became the Secretary of the Treasury!
Where are the statements about this from the intelligence agencies involved? Who has gone on the record and with what findings of fact?
Because they are 2 of the 50 states. You may not like that fact but it has meaning and is significant.
This new narrative is doing nothing more than trying to lay the groundwork for later action. You see, if information can be labeled "fake" - using whatever standard they plan to use - then the next logical step is to put legal limits on the "fake" information.

That's why the voters decided otherwise. Nobody wants Obama back just like nobody wants GW Bush back. We are not a nation of losers.
