I learned about it in the early 60's - it was claimed to be a good use for Zener diodes when they were invented - as the thermionic diodes previously used for this application made a lot of heat and kept dying. You still needed thermionic valves (ECC82's I think) for the divide by 2 as transistors were very slow in those days. They made a lot of heat and kept dying.

We already know the claim that what causes most cases of type 2 diabetes, excessive body fat usually brought on by eating too much sugar is completely wrong.

However, I can tell you, as someone who does not like sugar and has actively avoided it most of my life, that undiagnosed, and therefore untreated diabetes can make you crave sugar.

There is plenty of evidence that most type II diabetes is caused by a problem with gut bacteria.

Also, everybody gradually develops insulin intolerance as they age - it is just a question of how fast, and whether they live long enough for it to be classified as diabetes.

We already have massive problems with speed bumps and slowing in London. You have no way of telling how big a speed bump is till you hit is. You get huge ones and tiny ones, and most of the markings rubbed off ten years ago. In other places, there are road repairs that look like speed bumps and speed bumps that have been removed. Some are safe at 20mph, and others unsafe at 5MPH. No way to tell till you hit them! Some people know the area, other dont.

As a result, people slow down before and accelerate after, resulting in massive pollution problems - probably killing a lot of people, where probably none were previously killed by speed, since the congestion ensures you probably can't even reach 7MPH anyway, and causing injuries because some people (mostly motorcyclits) lose control and hit pedestrians if they don't hit a parked car first.

In short, speed bumps in London are probably a danger to society. I am not aware of any credible research that says otherwise.

That somewhat depends on what you call "Christian values". It seems to me (from Europe) that a lot of the views put forward by so called "Christians" in America are the exact opposite of what Jesus was arguing for.

As to "preserving your culture" being a valid viewpoint, well, I would argue that if your culture is one of violence against people because they threaten your own criminal activities, and bullying minorities, then, no, probably not.

There is a huge amount of evidence* that a lot of type 2 DIabetes is caused by bad gut bacteria manipulating your system to make more sugar available to it. It may not be conclusive proof yet, but that is because credible research takes a while.

The problem is likely worsened by killing off your entire gut bacteria from time to time with antibiotics.

If this is right, then ultimately, most people would be cured by eating a cup or two of suitable Yoghourt.

However, it is likely there are two or three other causes.

    * (1) If people have a large part of their stomach removed - because of cancer, injury, or to reduce weight, often their diabetes is cured instantly (ie blood sugar level becomes normal) while any significant weight loss takes months. (2) Fecal transplants have been shown to cure it in a large number of experiments. (3) Other things I forget, but equally strong evidence.

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, or medical researcher, and don't work for a pharmaceutical company or Yoghurt manufacturer. I just read the news.
