yah. i am. haven't watched a single NFL game all season and that comes from someone who has watched the NFL constantly for decades.
i don't even consider myself to be extremely patriotic. it's not about the flag. to me the issue is deeper. its thugs protesting that when they break the law, they shouldn't be punished. i am not ok with supporting people who go out of their way to support people who break the law.
As a white person have *never* had a positive interaction with law enforcement. I've been pulled over multiple times for "speeding" when i wasn't speeding (i'm not a speeder as evidenced by the fact i've had never had speeding ticket). these were all police mistakes or phishing expeditions. However, i remained honest and respectful in the face of false accusations, and the issues were resolved. If you run from the police, attack the police, or otherwise don't act as requested you are on shaky ground. it's not racism. it's stupidity and i don't support it.
no the rule states you find the spot on the demand/price curve where you make the most money. there is a peak and it's not where a lot of people watch it and pay very little to do so. In some cases this works well, but when you charge more and your product sucks more each year, you will eventually fizzle out.
if you have 3 people willing to pay $10,000, you will make more than if you have 10,000 people willing to pay $2.
I am semi-involved in a similar AGV related project now.
The AGVs execute their tasks pretty well overall, but when you have a factory where they shoe horned in an AGV solution, the whole thing turns to grid lock.
However in new factories where there is clear forethought about the flow of materials through the ware house it can be configured so that AGV traffic is appropriated segregated and dedicated areas are made for them so they don't interfere with people or each other.
It's definitely a weakest-link system, and that weakest link is not on the automation side.
when the cable co starts charging 200/mo for your standalone high speed internet and you need another $100/mo for 5 different subscription models, how is that better than what you have today?
i'm no fan of the cable companies due to their piss poor service, but do you all realize they OWN the delivery system for their COMPETITION? They can't lose.... unless it all goes wireless.
This happened to me twice this week. I had to do a battery pull from my laptop to get it to work right. A shutdown still did a fast boot so it didn't work
Also an electrical contractor on a job site came in earlier this week to say his wifi didn't work. I had to do a battery pull for him too after wasting 20 minutes resetting the wifi, etc.
In a company as large as GE you are going to have a bell curve distribution of skill levels. That's just a fact. When you hire replacements, you'll have another bell curve to add in. It's an iterative process of weeding out the weakest. A company can't stay competitive if it's giving away money to people who don't pull their weight.
So your argument that the firings are arbitrary is a straw man.
Firing the bottom 20% of your work force every year is no different than YOU, as a consumer, not purchasing another good or service again because it didn't give you what you paid for. It is assigning value via your wallet.
In the real world people are not equal performers at every task. In fact, some are really bad. Even what some would consider a "net negative" for the team (does more harm than good). Some of those that suck at their current job may not suck doing something else. While it involves some hurtful emotions and short term pain, a job loss can often times be beneficial in the long run.
The issue of not having an annual raise is interesting though. In the US we have gone through a decade of very low inflation. Also prices on many goods has dropped or stayed steady. Companies are not naturally making extra money via inflation to pass on to their workers. The additional money has to come through growth, which is limited in our stagnant economy. So not getting a raise each year might not be such a bad thing in a low inflation economy if it is compensated for elsewhere.
Ultimately the free market will decide though. And my guess is that GE will make sure their top 20% is really well compensated so they stay and keep being productive making money for the company, while everyone else takes what is given to them. While this doesn't sound great if you're in the 80%, it's really is a fair system.
Learned by dissecting programs to phish AOL accounts when i was in 8th grade. I was always into the darker side of computers, but i learned a lot. Also had unlimited dial-up since dumbasses would give up their passwords all the time.
Now i put those skills towards a positive. I program automation so people don't have to work anymore. They can just sit at home and collect unemployment.
Kasich and Bernie may both come across as level headed and pragmatic, but i completely rebuke your comment that both sides tolerate them.
Bernie is so far to the left he makes Hillary look like a Republican. He's not even tolerable to a centrist. The man literally wants to double-triple-quadruple taxes on everyone from the lower middle class and up to pay for massive government expansion. We're talking about tax increases that will actually cause almost everyone in the country to not be able to afford their house payment. That type of politics has never been overwhelmingly popular in America, except during the great depression, and still in academia.
Kasich has shown to be fairly moderate, but i highly doubt any self described Democrat would side with him over Hillary or Bernie.
Charlotte is one of the more "modern" cities. I was making a comment about the general nature of north cackalackians. In any population you have outliers. Charlotte and the RTP vicinity of Raleigh were vastly different than say, Asheboro.
I lived in NC for 8 years. I've lived all over the US. NC is BY FAR the most backwards, outdated, close minded place I've ever been. Mentally, it is easily a century behind the rest of the country (the deep dirty south perhaps being on par though).
Strange place...
Everyone is engaged in an unspoken contest with each other to be the most 'simple'.
Religion is serious business there. Social circles are confined to who you go to church with. Frequently members of one denomination won't talk with members of the same denomination who go to a different church "because they don't practice right". What? Can't tell you how many times I heard that one. And my favorite, one evangelical group referring to another evangelical group as "too crazy". All of you believe some wild crap, even by religious standards.
money. more than anyone else is offering, plus at least 10%. sure you might be able to pick up someone on the cheap, but once they know how under paid they are (and they will find out), they'll be out the door. if you can't pony up the cash, equity needs to be on the table.
environment is important too. needs to be comfortable and accommodating. quiet spaces, collaborative spaces, open spaces.
perks. snacks, free lunches onsite, occasional splurges offsite. company picks up the tab. free coffee, energy drinks, etc. pretend to care about people. appreciation goes a long way.
My family insurance rates went from ~$400/mo for a PPO plan in 2012, to ~$750/mo in 2013, and now just under $1000/mo in 2014, all with declining levels of coverage. Thank you 'Affordable' Care Act.
Even a modest 6-figure household income can't realistically afford $1000/mo for health insurance so we dropped it. It doesn't end there either. After $12k in premiums, i have exposure for another $6000 per year. So now we have a bare bones plan and contribute less to the system overall.
Worst law in the history of the United States.
This is what's wrong with the world. No personal responsibility.
Kids are a CHOICE. Their clothes are cheap. Their food is cheap. Toys are a CHOICE. I sure didn't have many toys when I was a kid... didn't have an i{Pad,Pod,Phone} for sure.
Fixing an infected tooth is a TOUGH CHOICE, but still a CHOICE. Plan ahead for the unexpected and you'll have the money ready when life happens.
A kidney stone is a TOUGH CHOICE, but still a CHOICE. Plan ahead for the unexpected and you'll have the money ready when life happens.
Life is all about choices. Make good choices early on and life is easier in the long haul. Make bad choices and then you whine about how much is wrong with the world.
Nevada is a poor example.
Their taxes are low because the tourism industry heavily subsidizes the entire state budget. Tax collection is quite high, but it's not coming out of the pockets of the residents of the state. Sales tax and vehicle registration taxes are also quite high.
As far as unemployment, Nevada (especially Las Vegas), has a very uneducated, unhealthy, and transient population. Many people moved there during the construction boom, and the economy of the state is not diverse enough to accommodate the bust.

excel for the long list. notepad for my personal (short term) list.

its the muslim terrorists
Overly broad non-competes are almost universally unenforceable. The lawyers writing this non-sense know this.
i'm screwed. i put that sh!t on everything. makes for a beautiful lawn and garden!
I'm just glad my job is to automate machines. Should ensure job security until I can make a machine to replace myself.

Bzzz wrong. Gross generalization. Many are pasteurized even in the keg.
